something in my ignition system has stopped working since being laid up for a while.
When I turn the key I get a light click from the solenoid but no action. Battery is fully charged and I have a good earth
It's a push button type solenoid, and when I push the button nothing happens either, I suspect it's the component that is at fault here.
Obviously I don't want to bypass the solenoid permanently, but to rule out any issue with the starter motor is it
a: possible to start the car by jumping from battery live to the starter ? I would say yes.
b: safe-ish to do so without frying myself or the car? not so sure.
