![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png) - Must admit to working an living all over the world. TO be honest it's getting worse everywhere - but I've set up my business here because I'm doing my utmost to make sure I never move back to the UK...... Brussels has car-jackings, a load of yout' hanging around and the typical ar*eholes too - but their needs are really driven by the fat tehy live below the poverty line...... blatant trashing for no reason just doesn't happen on anywhere near the scale I see in the UK. My old man had 7!!! cars nicked in 4months - I was told who did it and beat the living snot out of him, then his friends and accomplises one by one...... they stopped - they understand one rule and one rule only. Horrible to say and admit about my roots - but a terrible fact. Do unto others etc....... I got sick of 'paper pushing do gooders' telling us to turn the other cheek - from behind their security gates on their protected estates or tower blocks. Getting stupid beyond belief........ rant rant rant rant etc... etc...

Alistair sums it all up nicely for me. While there is some shock crime out there it's the every day mindless stuff which really bothers most. It's this disrespectful abuse of other people, their space and their property.
If someone mugs you for your bag then it's bad, terrible, but at least there is some reasoning behind it, it's done out of desperation. But happy slapping, keying cars, littering and such, this is almost for entertainment value and makes no sense.
The Youth Offending Service are pushing what they call Restorative Justice to try and tackle this. This is all about petty crimes being more linked to the community. So for instance if hoodies kick your fence down and get court, rather than sitting in a cell playing on a PlayStation all day they are sent round to help fix it.
This community thing seems to be a key issue, when my parents grew up most people in their area knew everyone else. So if the kids messed about the parents went to the parents, but these days it's not often the case, you may know who the trouble makers parents but there's no mutual respect.

The problem with dealing with scroty kids that are messing about with your car is that you are simultaneously identifying yourself to them, revealing which house youre in and giving them reason to come back and do more stuff later. I can only assume this is why my neighbour recently watched as 3 or 4 scrotbags jumped up and down all over his Punto, afraid to even say anything for fear of the situation getting worse.
There is possibly a way round this, 5 or 6 years ago I got some hassle off some horrible kids while I was fixing something on my old MK1 Seat Ibiza, stuff like "Your cars a pile of wibblepoo" and all sorts of remarks about me and the guy I was sharing the house with all very uninspired stuff. I wasnt bothered but eventually they were getting too close (and getting in my light) so I told them to "get lost" and it escalated into threats of smashing up the car, smjashing windows, putting petrol through the letterbox while I was asleep and other charming things like that. So when they eventually buggered off I followed them slowly in the car to the next estate where they lived, and when they got to their door I got out, one of their parents was there and I just said "Right, I know where YOU live now, if anything happens to that car or my house I know where to come back to" and just ignored everything they said in reply and drove off. Nothing happened.

Your big problem in UK is you have had several years of weak leadership. The nation no longer has pride in itself because of a simpering US loving fool who was only ever interested in what could get him re-elected . Added to the fact that for 20 years politicians have been subscribing to the largely discredited theories of Dr Benjamin Spock, where it is not a good thing to smack a bad child you have what is known to students of Soviet history as "Social Engineering". You can help change the social climate and restore the social fabric by having a long look at the type of person who is putting themselves up for election. Remember..independent politicians do not have to answer to anyone but those that voted them in.Even though the UK is now known as the " survelilance nation" it counts for nothing if the leadership is prepared to let the populace 'fight itself' to maintain control. I was born in New Zealand, and if you think it's rough in UK,it's nothing compared to what we had( and still have in places such as Otara.) at least your vandals etc don't go Armed. ![](http://fanzone50.com/Julian/Nig_lg/Nig_a21.jpg) '

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

I live in Nottingham. Seems like everyone round here is armed. Well, according to the newsapapers anyway.... My wife used to work in the beauty trade and one of her clients offered to pay her bill with a nine mil. When she was told cash only, she said "tell your bloke, I have semi's at home and my man can get anything up to a rocket launcher for the right money".
It wasn't all talk. Her boyfriend was one of several people arrested in a sting op by the local cops buying drugs and assault rifles only a few onths later. This client lost the income to pay for her beauty works after that.
Can I sound like my dad now and mention National Service LOL.

I can agree on the Nottingham lark, My bro in law lives there and its non stop gun crime, murders and muggings in some parts (or alteast seems so) I go to nottingham every night at about midnight as part of my job (Truck driver) and theres always police sirens, blue lights, closed off roads. Its very annoying as it makes me late!
Just a thought, whos got the hardest yobs?? U.K, NZ, US?
Maybe someone could make a top trumps game of dole dossing drunken scumbags?

Me and my g/f off to New Zealand or Japan as soon as we have the money & jobs over there to go. As much as I love England, it is getting worse. Canada for me! same advantages as America (great retro cars, wide open spaces) but without the crime, gun nuts/presidents etc

Notts is Awesome but it's not all like St. Annes.
Get out to the east, past the city limits, around Bingham, Whatton, Aslockton and it's a stunning part of the world; I'd love to live there.
Even closer to Notts itself, you have East Bridgeford and so on...

if there were top trumps... at least the rest would be organised, sensless gangs with distinction. here, they simply blend back into the background, like guerilla spides, only without the intelligence. to be fair every person between 14 and 24 with a baseball cap should be slapped on sight by these policemen we're gonna get back on the streets!
who'd vote for me if i stood as an independent PM?

I live on one of the most notorious estates in my area. But there is a proper sense of community here.I don't know of anyone who has had their house broken into, car nicked/vandalized.It seems it must be a case of not shitting in your own back yard though, because every incident reported in the local papers, seems to mention the offenders coming from my estate ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Might help me as well, seeings my wife is a teacher at the local school, and is very well liked by the local scrotes. thats the crux of the matter - if you live in a community (and few of us do anymore) - then these scroates know you, and either fear or respect you, and therefore leave you and your property alone. If you live in an anonymous estate of tacky wooden framed 'fire-death waiting to happen' houses or an ex-council estate where the 'incomers' get all the bother you will understand my point. i ve had my fair share of trouble with the local loons but a quick kicking in front of their mates (by someone their own age) followed by a whispered threat in the ear usually does the trick. A couple of years ago i had a problem with people trespassing in the back garden on a night (short cut), - they were impossible to catch or ID as it was always dark. i trained my dog to bite knee-caps, the first time he caught one of them the dog clamped down on his kneecap and wouldnt let go until 'we had a little chat'. Its easy to spot someone with a limp. ![](http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/AutoFive/IM010726.jpg)
