When you say "tries to turn over" what exactly do you mean?
If you mean that it spins over but doesn't fire at all, then fuel pump/fuel pump relay/fuel pump inertia switch would be the place to look.
If you mean tha it spins over and coughs a bit, then it's probably still a fuel issue.
If you mean that it doesn't turn at all (but perhaps just goes clunk), then you need to look at the battery and cables, starter solenoid, and starter motor.

Trys to turn over or trys to start ? I assume you mean trys to start ? Had one in last year real bad starter, it was the temp sender for the ECU? Have you actually checked for a spark? cos could be the CPS they can give internitant problems then just totaly give up ?

As Bortaf said I would check the resistor value on the Coolant temperature sensor first.
When a similar thing happened on my 205 it was the fuel pump relay. You could try a bodgy way of wiring it to see if the relay is to blame.
