theres one in checterfield car auctions, being sold tomorrow. I drove past and saw it so stopped for a look. Lovely car, 66 and metalic green. Green interior and carpets. Inside its about 9.5/10! Unfortunately it doesnt turn over. Its had new sills and some chassis repairs but hasnt been on the road since 1990. The bottoms of the rear quaters and front wings are shagged, drivers side doors are a little rough, passenger sides look nice.
Whats it worth? Apart from the non running and the rot its all very nice.
I'm tempted, but lack of space and seizedness put me off. Anyone else willing to take it on?

Humbers aren't worth that much money, there is a similar age Hawk on the Humber Club website for sale at the moment for £500 and that's in fairly good condition. We've got a 1965 Hawk that is fairly tatty, it cost us £200. Compare that to what you would pay for a Zodiac or similar. Personally I prefer the older, more rounded shaped Hawks a bit like our Snipe. I think I'm right in saying that the Hawk is 2.6l engine, compared to the Snipe that has a 3l. The Humber club sell quite a few spare body panels and we have contacts Interestingly in 1966 Harold Wilson, the then prime minster had a Humber instead of a Rolls Royce.

Parts aren't that abundant and good ones don't seem to fetch much. I'd be inclined to shy away and get a good one. Might be a lot more effort that it's worth :/

I would have to agree with Jonny, if you were interested in a Hawk there are better ones around. As for spares, with Humbers it's more a case of who you know if you get what I mean. wink wink, nudge nudge.
There is a '63 Hawk on the club website in vgc, mot'd etc for just under £1800.

There was a real dog of one sold at a local 'classic' car auction in the summer. It was probably strong enough underneath but the recent 'restoration' was totally filler with no attempt to make it look good, or preparation for the respray. Funny that the paint was actually quite good.
It was also a 1966 on a D, but TBH, it was so badly bodged it was a parts car and then a shell for a banger racer... it sold for £100.
A non runner went for £12 in an auction mentioned in the current Classic & Sportcar!

yeah, about what i figured. thanks folks.
The only thing that drew me to this is the interior is like new!
I'm really not after one, or any other car really. 2 is enough for me at the moment. But you know how it is, you see it, you like it and the seeds of temptation are sewn ;D

Buy it for £50, strip the good bits out and sell them on, and then sell the rolling shell to a classic banger racer for £150 - job done!

Green interiors are fairly common, shame it didn't have a pale blue one as we could do with a new front seat.
