First thing you need to do is ascertain whether power is getting to the head unit. Presumably it's on an ISO connector so with a test meter check that you have a constant 12v supply on pin 4 (memory back up) and an ignition switched 12v supply on pin 7. Also check that the ground (pin 8) does actually go to ground. It is often advisable to add an additional ground from the case of the unit to a suitable grounding point.

Yeah I switched the idnition on and started the car just to make sure, when I first got it all I done was plug it in and it all worked fine so I unplugged it left it on the seat and came back the next day and now nothing I'm baffled The fuse in the back is fine I checked that I'll try my meter, how do I know what pin is what? Where do I stick my metres one in the ground an one in power?

Have you checked the fuse on the car? Easy to blow them when plugging in and unplugging headunits.

I don't think it's the fuse because the old standard headunit works so that part has power, iv ordered a new Iso connector I might take it into halfords today and see of they can plug it in and see if it works I just don't understand what could have gone wrong

Could be a faulty headunit.

I rescued my ex's car (comprehensively rewired mk1 escort) when I saw it having a stereo fitted in Halfords car park. the lad had wired the stereo earth to the interior light door switch, so stereo would work with the door open but not with it closed.

Lol I only say halfords because they have a display headunit the same which they just unplug and put mine in, I'd never let them near my car lol

Have you got the red and yellow power wires the right way round? They have bullet plugs near the iso connector so you can swap them so they will work in a Volkswagen.......

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in
