I was peering at that one myself, but my FE memory is rusty and I think these are still 4-speed, despite being the "luxury" one that took the place of the epic Ventora.

WOW - one in the eye for people who say you can't buy a real retro on a budget now. That is all win.
Its a manual VX2300GLS, nice, most GLS were auto. Also GLS should come with PAS and will also have 5 lug wheels for a better choice of rims than the 4x100mm on the regular VX2300. A mate ran one of these on a set of 70s Pontiac Firebird rims back in the day and it looked awesome.
Yeah, its a 4 speed. Only the late VX490 got the Getrag dog leg box. However overdrive boxes were fitted to the earlier FD and FE series cars and are an easy swap into a VX series. IIRC Vauxhall never offered the OD as an option after the facelift.
These are fantastic cars. More spacious and refined than a Cortina but not as bulky as a Granada. Ride nice and a well maintained one should handle taut and precise (by 70s standards). Thoroughly under rated cars and criminally rare now

My Ventora had overdrive, I think, Tragic that car was scrapped, though it was a genuine flintstones special - I had to hold my feet in the air.
I'd have it if it were auto!

I mustn't even look..... that front spoiler is plastic so the front panel isn't rusty, just lost paint (although what's behind it all is anyones guess, I'm guessing rust), looks a bit crusty on the arches but aside from that largely ok, horrible shade of blue.....
Dammit, I have neither the space nor the cash.
It's quite near to me though and it's lottery night.......
and it isn't *that* expensive...
Hmmmmmmmmm

Ventora is the "prefacelift" version of the GLS. Basically the GLS is a Ventora with a 2.3 motor in it. I'm amazed I've never owned one.

I thought one of the differences (bar the VX's centre console and IMO rather better integrated grille, and airdam) was that Ventora lights are just headlights, and the lower light is turn signal and sidelight - the GLS, I'm fairly sure the sidelights are in the headlights, and the lower is a foglight.
Does a GLS have the rear buckets and scalloped shelf, then?
(Mmmm. 3300GLS. Or better yet, VX3000 GSi 24v.)

I think the GLS has the normal rear seat and shelf instead of the Ventora (and 2300S) style, I also thought the lower lamps were always sidelight and indicator. I've got about 20 square headlamps and none have a sidelight fitting.
I would have expected 5 gears or overdrive on the top 2 but never mind. I'm off to claim my winnings from tonights lottery.
of course, I have a manual Monza and an auto Carlton 24v here......

God, there is so much want here.
If it were down to me, I suppose this would become a Big Bertha rep. If I were a rich man, my life would just be a list of projects like that. Is that a blessing or a curse? Haha.

I've got about 20 square headlamps and none have a sidelight fitting. I had some 2300GLS square lights in my stock of spares, and they had sidelight holes in. Which was annoying, as they were destined for a Ventora - in the end they went to Finland to repair a Finnish Ventora (I assume by swapping lenses). There's a few mentions of the 2300GLS' front fogs online. The side/indicator units as fitted to Ventora and early VX4/90 are "mostly indicator" and narrower than the headlight. 2300GLS/VX490 units are as wide as the headlight aperture and mostly foglight. Also... the eBay one... grille?

Ha, all I found was an old 5p, assorted coppers, a thruppence and some buttons. It turns out I have plenty to be getting on with and the possibility of an LT35...........
