Yup definitely Puma. They're based on the highly acclaimed Ka/Fiesta chassis whereas the Tigra is a corsa in a dress!

The bucket seats in the Racing Puma were lovely.

Sorry - I just can't get excited about either of them...
No matter how much you dress a Puma up it will always be a Fiesta to me, and Tigra's belong in the hands of a mid 30's hairdresser.

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

You can fit the 2.0 turbo LET engine in the Tigra I believe.

Ford Puma = Style car with substance VX Tigra = Style car I'd actually consider a Puma for my next car - they handle great - I remember test driving one, and came away with with the lasting impression that you could just jump in & drive to & beyond its limits & it would encourage you to do so. I remember that when they first came out I hated the way they looked - however the shape has grown on me & I find it incredible that the design is nearly ten years old They still look fresh today, where as the Tigra looks its age. The strange thing is that I can think of numerous things i'd do to a Tigra to make it cool/more individual (deep dish wheels, matt/checked paint etc) But the Puma i'd leave in its pure form

I don't mind the Puma at all, quite underrated really as most people see it as little more than a Fiesta with knobs on ... the Racing Puma in particular is a classic of the future and I agree thats its amazing how fresh the Puma design looks, despite its age/underpinnings. Mrs Den has wanted a Puma for ages now ... perhaps a nudge in the right direction is in order.

Not a massive fan of either (yet), although neither car really offends me. I've driven a few Pumas and like the way they drive, particularly the 1.7 (always thought that was an odd engine size...). Never driven a Tigra, so can't really comment on how they drive. They look OK, but the Puma looks better. Like DerbyDan says, the Puma has aged really well.

Tigra is now 10 year old
Puma is 10 year old next year
So both are borderline Retro
With regards to anybody buying a Tigra a little body thing to look out for already: Front underside of bonnets are corroding already as are Front Suspension arms/wishbones; the latter of course being M.O.T failure or even worse!

I'd have to go for the Tigra. Put a decent set of shocks and springs (eibachs and billy blacks) and then drop something faster in and you got a girly car with a pair of balls. Superb.
You can drop a C20XE, C20LET and even the C25XE. All kits are available for the conversions.
There was a Corsa last year in Povo spec 1.5D Merit that was sitting on the floor. It was running 12's up the strip. A peek in the bay later showed that it was a C20XE lump on twin 45's and a very tweaked engine with two barrells of NOS in the boot. It was the ultimate sleeper there.

I think Puma's need to be lower though they seem to sit very high

Horses for courses really. Tigra = Cheaper to buy, easier to swap a big engine in. Puma = Dearer to buy - but as a stocker it outclasses the Tigra by a long way, in terms of ride / roadholding, interior "look" and IMHO build quality. However I used to work with a girl who had a black Tigra with an Irmscher 'kit and 17" League 087s, and much as I hate to say it, I actually liked it a lot! NEEDED an XE though... I'd go for a Tigra - I'm a Brit, I support the underdog! A pro-street one would look good.... Baby shell perched over tube frame, tubbed, hmmmmm.....
