I'm selling my Land Rover Disco V8 Auto, despite it being a fine example, after having driven my Lexus for several months previously I just can't get used to driving a 4x4 as my only car again - and I can't afford/don't need to run 2 cars. So I've bought a VR5 Passat to see if I like it or not....
On with the details, it's a 1995 V8, full 7 seater with a certified LPG installation with underslung sill tanks, so no storage space is lost inside.
For it's MOT I had to weld round the edges of the boot floor (I used 3mm steel, so it won't be rusting through again in a hurry!) and both inner wings needed a bit of work too. This was all done by me, painted and then waxoyled over the top of that. It won't rust through again for quite some time! After doing this, I put it in for it's MOT, it failed on the rear brake pipes, so I replaced the front to rear pipe and both rear pipes on the axle. I also put some front brake pads in and obviously replaced the brake fluid.
Just remembered it had a new silencer before it's MOT too as it had no silencer at all when I bought it!
It's had a full service (oil, filter, plugs etc.) and runs a charm on both petrol and LPG.
It's got a stack of history - I don't know how complete it is as I don't really care, but it makes for interesting reading.
Neither of the 2 sunroofs leak, all the electric windows work, and so far as I can tell so do all of the electrics. The only slightly iffy thing is that the rear doors sometimes don't quite pop all the way up with the remote central locking. This is a fairly simple fix and involves replacing a spring inside the door lock - they seem to be about a fiver on ebay.
It's fitted with +2" rear springs and shocks, and what look like either HD or +1" lift front springs and shocks. It's on 15" weller style wheels with 31x10.5x15" mud tyres. It has a spare wheel with a good tyre, and another spare tyre too (got given to me and figured it would be rude to not keep it!). I'm technically guessing at the above lift size, it came to me like this but I'm pretty sure it's right.
It's got a few other bits done too, like 2 electric fans fed from an adjustable thermostat in the top hose (which I have rewired and they actually work properly now!). It used to have a snorkel at some point as the p/s wing has a hole in it. I've got some chequer plate which I'll cover the hole with before it's sold. It also has a dixon-bates style towhitch which currently has a bike rack attached to it - this can be included in the sale as well as a standard towball.
There's probably more, and I'll get some better pictures when I have more time!
I'll give it a couple of weeks here and on a couple of LR forums, then it's off to the bay!
