Went to drain some coolant from my expansion tank cos the previous owner had way over filled it and it was stone cold. I had driven about 20 miles then left it about half an hour to cool.
When I checked the temp it was totally cold.
Thinking about how the system should work, i.e hot coolant only enters the tank due to thermal expansion and the fluid in the tank when cold is only there as a reservoir this seems to be ok.
Am I correct in my thinking and everything is OK. Car doesn't overheat.
