Welcome, your damn right about the climate, I have spent half my life welding up terminal rotters and am hugely envious of your climate, mind you I went to NE USA and Canada last year and noticed most of the old cars there are rustier than ours and pretty scarce on the whole, yet when i went to California this year you couldn't move for cool old tin, literally every street in Monterey and Santa Cruz and most in SF had at least one seriously desirable old car on it, most looking original without major rust, bearing in mind this is right next to the sea I cant imagine what the survival rate in New mexico or Arizona is like!
Your collection sounds superb, I'm looking forward to pics!

As well as the difference in climate, I think the whole rot thing might have a lot to do with yank cars being built from healthy, thick sheets of steel, and Brit/Euro stuff being made mostly from tin-foil?

I'm not entirely convinced. Lots of old British and Japanese tin renowned for rotting out here - Jags, 240Zs, MGAs, MGBs, etc. - seems to keep well in the drier states. |
