I purchased this from technics1974 on here just over a year ago, it was a great car then, and it's a great car now. Has been nothing but 100% reliable, and served me incredibly well. I liked it so much that I've now bought a 300CE-24 and this is the only reason for moving it on.
The car is an E200 even though it is badged as an E320 (I didn't do it, and neither did technics1974, we both just never got round to removing it), so has the 2.0 4 pot engine.with 4 speed auto box, returns around 30mpg combined and high 30's on a run. Insurance is cheap too, I have a multi-car policy now, but had a quote of £160 from Footman-James on this.
History
Full. I've serviced it myself since purchasing. Last oil change done approx 5000 ago, and gearbox oil approx 500miles ago. Has bucket full of history, and receipts. Car has spent a lot of it's life in Spain.
Mechanically
Superb. Starts instantly first time every time. Gear changes are smooth, s/w switch works perfectly.
Good bits
Car is in great shape, cleans up really well and the interior is a beautiful place to be. Has full leather, which is by no means rare in a 124, but from my experience anyway is much less common in the E200 and E220 models than the cloth interior. Also has working cruise. Leccy windows, sunroof, mirrors all working. Mercedes remote c/l and alarm with full closure also with multiple fobs. Is a facelift model, so has passenger and driver air bags.
Excellent condition underneath. Sailed through last MOT and was complimented on condition, especially the brake lines.
Bad bits
Boot lid showing signs of rust and has a dent in top, would just be easier to replace. Rear bumper has a crack where I lost an argument with a bollard. Rust previously repaired, but starting to come through again on o/s front wing. Fair few swirl marks and light scratches, but would come out with a decent detail. Interior fan works intermittently. Pics of bad bits are in the photobucket album (Link at bottom). Oh and the back box fell off earlier this week, so needs a new one.
If you want a car to push you into the back of your seat and tear around corners, then this seriously isn't the car for you. It's by no means what I would call fast, and although it does handle quite well for what it is, it's far from a sports car. If however you want a ridiculously comfortable, incredibly well built retro saloon to waft around in, then it really is the car for you. It really is true that these cars were so well built. It is easily the most comfortable car I have ever driven, the seats are great, in fact with the cruise on on the motorway you are in serious danger of falling asleep!
Pics all recent, most taken today, but it started raining so added some older ones in also.
