So I broke a car and have the shell sat there looking sad and taking up space, so I've called a load of these scrap car collection companies, but none of them will take it as its got no wheels/hubs and they cant roll it onto a trailer -
How are you supposed to go about disposing of these things?
don't want to cut it up as theres always cars parked near it and don't want to risk damaging them... :/

I'm lucky enough in my area the scappy will come out and drag whatever onto his flat bed. If i'm not there or i want to weigh the shell in i always leave wheels on to get in on the trailer, then remove them once it's on there. Obv i leave hubs etc on the car so i can do that

I just rang around and eventually found one that had a truck with HIAB. Got no cash for it, put they chained it up, lifted onto lorry and fecked off all with no effort on my part so can't complain.

Iv scrapped a shell recently with no running gear - put it on a pallet with wheels on. pulled up the bevertail recovery wagon no probs and jacked it up to remove my pallet once it was on.

JamesP's guys came through - the shell is gone already. Now that's what I call service... Pallet is a good idea though, may try that next time

£190 a tonne for scrap up here at the minute..... More down south. I got £60 for a bare 100E shell last week at the other yard (the one Brian mentioned has only just opened) and that was with all the good bits cut out and no scrap inside. I managed to borrow a truck, but at the price it is at the moment, it's worth hiring a trailer and doing a bit of collecting.

my local recycling metal yard come out with a large truck and a grab and just lift it by the roof. If these places call themselves scrap car collectors, they should be equipped for the job! And I still get paid the going rate by the ton.
