Why not put a UK twist on it..... by ripping off one of those 'monkey hangers' they have on the Tube (District Line trains)..... no one will care too much as all the trains are getting re-rurbed anyway. Noooooo! Don't say that! I'd had that thought ages ago! I didn't think any tubes had those any more? We are talking about the black plastic balls on the end of a spring aren't we?!

Yeah, they're still out there. I think they are the 'D' class stock, and run on the district. There's a 'rolling refurbishment' programme going on at the moment, and the monkey hangers are being replaced with posher stuff.... so either get yourself someone on the 'inside' at bombardier, or go for a late night jaunt out to Upminster armed with a screwdriver

Yeah they come from the trains in Japan,.. as far as I know the only one in the UK is currently attatched to my car. ah you missed the boat on this one, some uk folk have been going to japanland and stealing these for J-tarting for a few years. originally when i saw these things i thought they looked a bit curse word. but i really like them these days. ahh I'm so fickle. i want a UKDM tyte thing though. surely those fisher price ones will be too soft and not hard enough to use?

I've never seen one in the flesh or in a photo. No one else has mentioned seeing one before either,.. but then I figured some of the drifty guys might have them. Although checking their galleries I never saw one either...

'D Stock'? 'Monkey Hangars'? 'Bombardier'? I call Enthusiast!! Either way I reckon a UK-take on it would be excellent, either the underground hangers or one off a london bus. don't think many regular (overground?) trains have allowances for standing do they?

Not really. Whilst I have 'encyclopaedic knowledge of lines, tunnels, stations and premises I have no scooby who to ask about the actual trains. Don't really have much to do with them

What are they actually for?
Is it some sort of 'Code' sign on certain cars?
