a bit of a story for you.
just getting some insurance quotes for the mazda. went to adrian flux first since I'm with them for the buggy and golf. plus i quite like them. i accidentaly put in that id been driving 2 years instead of 1. got a quoe back of about £950. had another look around and got quoted about 900 elsewhere. went back to adrian flux to do it with the correct information. i said i had been quoted 900 elsewhere and it came back with a quote of 875. so this time i had been driving 1 less year and they give me a much cheaper quote just because i had found cheaper elsewhere!
my advice is to just tell them the amount you want to get insured for under the "best quote elsewhere" box and see what happens.
this really narks me. so what was that extra 75 quid for? just trying to scam me?!

its rediculous! as if insurance prices arent high enough weve got the companies trying to charge us higher than is actually needed!
I'm going to try another quote saying iv been quoted 500 elsewhere to see what they some back with. results soon!

Its cynical, its underhand ... but insurance companies exist only to generate profit. thats true and i can see why they do it. they want my custom and will drop their prices a little if theres signs of me going elsewhere. its just annoying that now we have to shop around for quotes twice in case anyones willing to drop their prices.

When I got my renewal for my 1303 (with adrian flux) it was around £130 (premium and admin fee). I rang them to try to get it lowered by reducing the mileage limit. This put the premium under £100 so they didn't charge their 'admin' fee of £25. I know this doesn't help you as your premium is way above £100 but if anyone else is about the £100 mark for premium alone (before any fees) it is worth trying to get it a bit lower. Strangeley they don't tell anyone that the admin fee is only charged on premiums above £100.

Tell you what amused me with Adrian Flux? My nonstandard 1500 (techincally different engine, box, axle, steering, brakes, exhaust, induction, ignition, etc) was 500 quid. My totally standard, drainpipe slow 1500SE added another 50 quid to the premium, when I switched it over. Doh. ;D Fair enough it was mostly handling charges but still...raised a smile

adrian flux are good for that you can beat the price down and haggle loads.
but beware when you need to claim off them its a whole different story! ill try find the link but a few months ago there was a massive outrage thing that happened - some bloke tried to claim on being hit by someone else and they wouldnt pay out for some stupid reason like he didnt have a certain type of alarm. something dumb and unrelated like that.

Right then my eldest daughter aged 20 got a quote from tesco 2yrs no claims on a 3year old Suzuki jimny £925 she asked to put her boyfriend on as a named driver, and it dropped to £725 M y youngest daughter 17 new driver in a ka 1300 cc £1060 put me on as a named driver and it drops to £805 ,and they still collect the no claims at the end of the year .Cant see the sense in that one as the car is probably going to be used more with 2 drivers !

Its worth adding that its sometimes cheaper to be insured 3rd party fire and theft instead of just third party only. God alone knows why. Ive asked them why this happens and they blame the computers.

Yeah i've heard this. I've also been told that insurance is cheaper if you have 9 points than if you have 6 because you'll driver more carefully to avoid extra points. Never worked in theory though it just got more and more expensive for my dad who now has 9 endorsable and 3 that have just dropped down.

Ah, but the idea is while YOU'RE driving it there's less risk than when the "youngster" is at the wheel. Adding me on the wife's Vectra policy knocked £75 off - like money for nothing! (She had a claim in 2002). However it's literally half the price if she insures the mk1 Escort instead of me. Bizarre!

Adrian Flux. They'll be the people who acknowledged reciept of my mod form, then 6 months later when I wanted to add a couple more mods said they couldn't find it, so had no record of my mods so was uninsured. And had been for the last 6 months Great company, Adrian Flux And I'm not the only one to have had similar issues.

I have to say I've had nothing but good service from Adrian Flux - one of the advisors I spoke to from another company said they are really making the effort to bring their standards up, so I tried them again and not only was my quote cheaper but they fully understood. All paperwork has been dispatched, relayed and confirmed quickly and easily, their phone staff have been friendly and communicative and they've always contacted me if there's been a problem
