I bought this in january 2012 to get me down to work in Coventry and back (240 miles) which it did admirably and without any problem.
It has had a new thermostat, lambda sensor and coolant temp sensor. The car has 56000 miles.
The rust is on the rear driver's side arch and along the driver's side wing underneath the bonnet shut (there are no arch liners). Neither are threatening, wing can be replaced, but can't be seen with the bonnet closed. The engine is 'rattly', as opposed to quiet. It's not a gunked tappet rattle, it's the symptom of a pushrod, chain driven OHV engine. It doesn't sound broken.
The interior is spotless and everything runs great!
I taxed it at the start of march (6 months) and MOT will run out in august or September. It passed last year no problems and will pass another without any work.
It has been elderly owned and had service history with proof of mileage with docs etc
Reason for sale is I'm looking for something else (like a Charade or small Japanese car) - it's good for what I use it for, but I've nearly finished my Astra so it's an 'equal car' (mpg, hatchback) and I can't really justify keeping it.
It's a workhorse with a huge boot and a 100% reliable Skoda pushrod engine.
