Anyone know how I could get this little circlip off the distributor shaft?
A long time ago I posted how I fitted new points and felt the screw threads strip....
Well, I got a new distributor quite cheaply and nothing up the top end of it is damaged but it has a bent shaft - God knows how that happened. My car has recently started idling at around 2000rpm so I feel a 'plugs, points, carb' tune up coming on therefore I decided to have a look at the 2nd hand dizzy.
I think I posted a pic a while ago of the bent shaft and I figured I could maybe make best one out of two. Everything came apart quite easy until I got to this small circlip inside the advance/retard mechanism.
There is no room or scope to get circlip pliers in and I've tried levering with tiny screwdrivers etc to no avail. I'm thinking perhaps its like a CV joint circlip in that the knock the component over it so it pops inside the groove in the shaft and lets the object ride over but perhaps not.....
tiny brass coloured snap ring inside advance/retard mechanism. how do you remove it?
can't argue with a teutonic part no.
