Ok, i know the car needs a clean, but i got my new wheels on. They have 165/60/14's It rides much better on these tyres, less crashy over the bumps I think i need some spacers, on the rear at least. A quick measure seems to say 10mm on the front and 20mm on the rear would be great, but realistically maybe just 10-15 on the rear would do.

The look cool, especially from the side - at least twice as good as a VW OEM wheel has any right too

cheers mat, couldnt resist chucking them on.
Just went looking at spacers on ebay, looks like 15-20mm with bolts are going to cost £65 a pair. Maybe ill leave em be for now. I should be able to fit 10mm without longer bolts though, on the rear anyway.

vw in da house: thanks, ive still to paint the thin red band round the outside.
I would check in with your local motorcycle dealer that carries the Motrax line of parts, there's a wheel stripe kit with either 5 or 7mm stripes in different colours and even reflective, I would do a 5mm red reflective on those black wheels, looks awesome at night!!!!!
DP says: I use the Motrax Wheel Stripe Kit on all the Strippers I build, cool and safe.....

That looks cool. I agree about the spacers, just to finish it off. And great idea about the wheel striping kits from bike dealers dp!

A better way would be a spacer between stub axle and trailing arm... Can't remember if anybody makes them already. Certainly been meaning to look into having some made. Some be less than £65 too!
Edit: I'm an ignorant sod sometimes... should have also stated that they really do look very good in solid black, against that body colour.

Black wheels never look good on pictures - you lose the definition of the spokes due to all the stuff behind but I bet they look fan tas tic when looking with a real eye!!!

That looks ace with those on, Black wheels always look good on a met. Grey car, and the the thin red band treatment will work, I used to have a thin Silver band round some black Manta alloys on my Silvery Grey Mazda 323 and i just couldnt stop looking at the car!

Can you do me a flavour and tell me exactly how you did it when you get the red band on? I`m doing it again with the 15 " alloys that the Mazda is now wearing, and the way I did it last time didnt last very long.

yeah no problem.
I was going to paint them using a pinstripe brush and celulose paint, but I'm going to try the rim stripe stickers.
When they arrive ill do a mini how too thread about it.
If it doesnt work/look good then ill go back to the paint idea.
