dungbug: you're a winner! The last person I know that did that would get dressed up in traditional funeral togs and, when they saw a suitable pedestrian, jump out of the hearse and chase them with a tape measure... lols. One of my favourite past times with that car was pulling into the supermarket to do the weekly shop with 'Going Underground' by The Jam blasting out, always wanted to fit a dry ice machine in the back but got as far as green lighting and a sound system. I had this sticker made up for the back (which would get a smile and anger in equal measures) ![](http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b29/dungbug/HearseRearWindow.jpg) The OP could get one for this van along the lines of 'No rioters (or coppers) kept in this van overnight' ;D If I'm ever in a position to afford the juice (me driving a V6 didn't make for good MPG figures ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) ) I'd have another one as a daily again, loved it & really miss it. I see this van in the same light as my Hearse, you just know you're not likely to see another cruising by. Love this van, full of awesomeness (not sure that's even a word).

Okay, latest update....
I have been in conversation with one of the friendlier chaps at Essex Police traffic division, who has kindly offered to clarify what I can and cannot LEGALLY have on the van. The main bone of contention seems to be the 'police' markings, a somewhat grey area where the law is concerned. One thing that did come out straight away is that blue lights and/or beacons cannot be fitted under ANY circumstances, this includes lights/beacons NOT CONNECTED TO A POWER SOURCE and also covers anything that is fashioned to look like blue lights/beacons ie a 'fake' lightbar made of polystyrene & plastic etc. Sirens are also a no-no unless they are exclusively for an alarm/intruder system. I will update some more when the feds get back to me.

Simples.... re-do the lettering so it says POLITE instead ;D

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

Isnt it a case that police lights can be fitted, but when on the road they must be covered? as someone in our town used to have a 1990s cop car replica with a cover over the lights when he shopped at Tesco (then take the cover off when at shows etc)

By the letter of the law, even covered lights fitted to replica plod cars are illegal, however most police forces are fairly sympathetic towards owners as long as they are not seen to be pushing their luck! Most replica police car owners will use covers with 'film car' or similar wording printed clearly on the cover when travelling on public roads, but this is still technically illegal. Replacing blue lenses with amber ones whilst travelling is a favorite amongst the replica emergency vehicle owners.

This is all kinds of awesome!! Does it have air con in the cabin? I imagine you would fry without on a hot day Unfortunately there are a few bits missing, this includes the ventilation system that used to be fitted. The switches and cabling are still there but the fans themselves have been removed. There are some ventilators fitted above the cab and in the rear vault but the vehicle needs to be moving to get air flowing! I will be looking at fitting fans and/or some sort of aircon system at some point as it does get a bit stuffy when sitting in traffic, and not having any windows to wind down takes a bit of getting used to.

sorry but I don't get it if you have a use for it thats fine,eg more films etc,but to use it everyday its got to be a no no.you cant use it like a transit as you have restricted access with only one door at the back, mpg wont be good with all that extra weight.iam sure that you cant drive it on the road anyway those police signs on it and those bull bars. and as for insurance....... Surely if you apply that logic to ownership of a vehicle, 90% of all the cars on this site would be irrelevant. Most are old, not very efficient in modern terms, cost more time and money than they are really worth, need constant attention and fiddling, etc. It's not about making sense, if I wanted to do that I would post pictures of my Nissan Micra. I have my reasons for wanting such a van as this, and if you don't get it then thats cool, not everyone will. The bullbars, grilles and graphics can be removed at any time, leaving me with a fairly clean and tidy van that drives rather well and isn't quite the lumbering beast that you assume it to be. But I like the unusual, hence the reason I have owned so many unique cars over the years. Not many of them made any sense whatsoever but they always, always put a smile on my face. And that, my friend, is what is really important. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) We need a like button on here...

Anyone fancies meeting up, I will be at the Junction 26 Truckstop along with a few of the chaps from the Ford Transit Forum on Thursday 19th from about 7.30pm. Unless, of course, I get nicked on the way by an over-zealous copper!

wow that's brutal! Love that, I dare say road rage is not something experienced in this, neither is getting cut up or tailgated lol Awesome! You would be surprised at how many people are happy to pit their shiny £20,000 new motor against a dirty old Transit! My other van which can be seen here regularly gets challenged by the typical Audis and Beemers on the roads of Essex, with scant regard for their own vehicle's well-being. I imagine that this van will suffer the same problem, just with this one I have some extra reinforcement between me and them! ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)
