Chaps
What is the best procedure when wanting to take several layers of paint off from an alloy wheel (tyres attached)
Also how much of the stuff would I need for 4 x 15" wheels.
Cheers

buy a half liter bottle , give the paint a quick rub the scratch the paint , then brush it on , nice and thick , leave it to do its thing , brush or scrape of a few hours or day later and repeat if needed,.

I'm not entirey sure, but I think Nitromors (and other paint strippers) attack alloy - so be careful, read all the warnings, etc.
EDIT: And I'm convinced it'll damage tyres. For the sake of peace of mind, either remove the tyres or remove the paint using abrasives rather than chemicals.

Alloy will be fine with the chemicals but put the wheel in a plastic bag so it doesn't dry off and wash with thinners when you're done

For the sake of peace of mind, either remove the tyres or remove the paint using abrasives rather than chemicals. I've seen it mentioned before, but only on the Halfrauds website (and PH, but I think we all know to ignore anything you read on there.) about it possibly damaging alloy, but I think that's more of a disclaimer thing really. I used some similar stuff on a wheel that I'm fairly sure is pretty shagged anyway just as a tester, turned out ok (apart from the fact that half the paint is still on the wheel...). Put a dab on the tyre as well (they're screwed) and it did sod all to the rubber visually. I still wouldn't let the tyres swim in it, it'd be expensive for a start, but I also wouldn't panic about a little spillage, though wash that off quick for peace of mind. I was always told you should dab paint stripper on as well, like you should with underseal. A question if you don't mind. Where on earth do you find plastic bags big enough to fit a wheel in? Bin bags weren't even big enough for mine!

Nitromors is fine on alloy. I stripped the lacquer off a set off a set of TT comps and it didn't even damage the polished finish: Here they are rinsed off: and after a quick razz over with some autosol: Definitely keep it away from the tyre. And your skin. and definitely out of your eyes!

Once it's on, cover with clingfilm pressing out all the air. The same principle as the plastic bag, but you can get it to follow the contours of the wheel better.
I found when using it that it needed to be left on a LOT longer than I expected...but then I think it all depends on the type and thickness of paint you're trying to remove? Personally, I'd put it on in an afternoon, work it into the paint and cover with clingfilm. Late evening peel off the clingfilm and add more Nitromors, working into the paint again. Cover with fresh film and leave overnight.
Don't rinse them off on the lawn and make sure you have an easy means of clearing up all the paint that comes off...there will be a lot of it!

Wear gloves when your doing it, if that stuff gets on your hands it stings like nothing else. I made that mistake when helping a mate strip his Morgan. We also found its more effective if rubbed in, in a circular fashion like you would polish.

i didnt get on with it at all myself. perhaps i was being a bit impatient with it and not leaving it on long enough who knows.
i gave up and just got mine sand blasted... result was worth it in my opinion, but a fair bit more expensive than diy. tyre removal for all 4 was £15 sand blast £15 per alloy. plus paint probs spent 50 on paint as needed a fair few layers.
