Not sure if anyone will be able to help me on this, but I'll ask anyway just in case someone does because it'll probably save me a few hours of trial & error (and head scratching)
I've just picked up a ZF 4HP22 4 speed auto box for the Land Rover. It's a 2WD one from an LDV V8 ambulance, so in theory it's the best one to get for my application.
The downside, when the seller removed it, he just threw all the 'bits' into a box and I was wondering if anyone here has any experience of which order they go in? The Sherpa/LDV V8 boxes have some spacers and shims in the bellhousing that are kind of important. I reckon I might be able to work out the order they go in, but it'll probably take quite a bit of trying out different combos....
Please let me know if you have any ideas on this?
Obviously there is the flex plate on the top left then working clockwise from there we have:
(1) Large adaptor plate/shim that looks like it bolts between the flex plate and torque converter
(2) THICK spacer with a small shaft on one side
(3) Small shim
(4) Spacer/adapter
(5) Medium shim
As you've probably guessed, the torque converter isn't shown, but if you do know which order these pieces fit I'll be your new best friend (and some free Area 52 stickers will be on their way to anyone who can answer this correctly)
Many thanks,
Bruce.
