This thread has two prongs. Firstly, the automotive things you've done that you're proud of, that you feel have enriched your life. Secondly, the bucket list; the things you want to do before you die. So, things I'm proud to have done: - driven the Nürburgring - driven some proper race cars in anger, including single-seaters. Here's me driving (quite amateurishly) an M3 GTP at the Bedford Autodrome - give me a break, it was my first time on track! - first car I drove was a Citroën DS (aged 14) - spun a 911 GT3 at Silverstone, nearly taking out a Testarossa in the process (oops!) -got a few articles published in car mags (not paid, but hey, I do it for the love of it!) - run a successful car blog for almost five years - had 'relations' in a Peugeot 309 (and a Citroën ZX, and a Seat Arosa - ah, the halcyon days of youth) - owned a lot of fun and interesting cars - helped my dad build a kit car when I was a kid Things I haven't done, that I must do someday: - attend a drift event - go to Santa Pod (can't believe I've never done this) - go to the Retro Rides Gathering! - own an Alfa Romeo - drive a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Maserati (of any kind, in any context) - drive the Route Napoleon in an SM - attend the Monaco Grand Prix - drive down to Le Mans There are things I'll add to both of these lists as and when I think of them. So, what are your lists?

Stuff I've done that has enriched my life as a petrol head. Although I'm not sure I'm proud of it, as my bank balance will testify. Done....- Rescued an E30 from certain death/scrap yard, 2 1/2 years on it's still going strong. Only car I've sold in better condition than when I bought it!
- Some drift days - huge fun, I'd recommend it to anyone.
- Been an active (and somewhat lazy) member of retro-rides, met some amazing people and had some epic times.
To do....- Build a "That" car.
- Drift at Ebisu Circuit.
- Attend more RR stuff: A52, Beach parties, Gatherings. The more you give, the more you get!

Done- Driven several race tracks in a variety of different vehicles. The 'Ring in my Camper, sub 20mins! - Le Mans, we got to 70mph down the Mulsanne Straight - Did a couple of week road trip through parts of Europe in the Camper including Le Mans for the 24hrs and up to Germany for Bad Camberg (a once every 4 years show featuring VWs you've only dreamt off) We stopped off at Reims for a few hours as well - Took the Beetle round Brands Hatch, sadly no photos of me on track. - Race the Top Gear track in a selection of Caterhams and the Camper - Been lucky enough to have driven or messengered in some nice motors in the past including an XJ220, Countach and most of the Haynes collection. - Done a few rally stages as well, recently in a Cooper S and Alfa GTV - hopefully getting few photos published in Retro Cars soon and I've just won snapper of the year in my local Motorclub. - scarily went to over 50 car meets, shows, events and race meets in a single year. - managed to prove to my parents that its perfectly safe to fit a car seat in a couple of 1970s VWs and take my daughter out for lots of rides, she loves it. - I too have had "relations" in one of my Retros, but then it does have its own bed! *the last two entries are not connected! - been to every single RR Gathering yet, they keep getting better. Want to do- Every year I try and get to a different race track or car collection or show. There are lots of race meets I've yet to go to including the FoS and the revival - I need to own a 70s V8 at some point in my life - and an air-cooled Porsche - and a McLaren F1 - do another proper road trip. We discussed a Reading to Moscow drive once but then life got in the way! - I'm going to nick phil2600s idea of travelling at 200mph. I've got within 45mph of that on the road in the past. damn you 155 limiter! ;D

Done:I like being able to say my first car was old, lowered and flamed rather than being a Nova/Fiesta/Micra etc. After many years of seeing the results other peoples engine swaps I'm quite proud of carrying out my own. Chuffed to have had photos published and got (a little) mixed up in the media side of things as magazines were such an important part of my car life in my teens. As others have said, saving cars is pretty good. Our Sun-tor ticks that one off, as it had been stood for many years before a friend helped us get hold of it and re-commission it. I'm always grateful to be free enough to get to as many events as I do - having a supportive other half is most helpful. It makes me happy to have covered so many miles in a couple of cars and to have only had a modern car once, for one year (against my wishes!). I'm not big on 'celebrityism' but I am glad to have briefly met Ron Ayres (Thrust designer), Richard Noble (on a separate occasion) and LJK Setright and have personal letters from those last two. There's not many cars I'm all that fussed to be driven in but have had a ride in a mentalist Audi that will stick in my memory for ever. To Do:Bonneville/West coast road trip. Was gonna happen a couple of years ago but then a project went belly up and the money wasn't there. European touring in an old car. Should tick this off this year - or at least make a start. Drive or ride in an F40. No idea how or when I might, if ever, manage to arrange that. Drive something pre-war on a daily basis.
