I don't actually think so,but if you've ever wanted to see how a very small proportion of the world lives look at this collection of pics of the rich and fatuous. and see if can spot the cool 'stang. www.patrickshim.com/PatrickShim_Personal_AutoSocial.htmPS the only car i have any respect for is the nissan GTR...seen blowing the doors off a galado

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

What a complete waste of machinery and engineering. Whaaa...? I never get statements like that. p.s. how much is 'too much'? Sorry just hate the snideness that people seem to get to anyone mildly succesfull.

some people have too much money and not enough imagination IMO is the problem. One ofg my magazines does a "this guys garage" feature where they look at peoples collections and some guys have 000,000 price tag collections of cars. But cool ones. I mean I'm not a great fan of Jay Leno the broadcaster but Jay Leno the car collector - top bloke, top collection. Proper diversity and some cool rides, some real off the wall stuff.
"I just got a $500K bonus for signing the Acme deal, I guess I better buy another Ferrari" isn't reall car collection in my book.

i like the delorean the mustangs and the corvettes are ok. not remotely interested in super cars at all, they seem pointless when u could buy loads of cooler cars and build a huger garage to keep them in for the same price. i have no negativity towards the cars or their owners
jay leno's collection is fantastic, his steam cars are great

Yeah agreed that they don't have much imagination with their collections (apart from that keith bloke, a carrera gt next to a delorrean phwoooar) i doubt they see their cars as engineering masterpieces, more like eye candy.

my comment wasnt totally serious, and probably based in jelousy ;D
However, how many supercars do you need? Why not buy less supercars and put some of your money to good use helping people who really need it?
Admittedly, if i had lots of cash, i'd have a nice garage and lots of cars (not lots of supercars though), but i'd also be accutely aware of how selfish it is to be mega rich when so much of the world is super poor. How much i'd do about it though we'll never know cos ill never be mega rich.

It's probably because alot of those cars are wrapped in plastic and never used, which is a waste. My point exactly. I don't care 'how much money' someone has ! Not all people judge being a 'success' as 'having lots of cars and so much money I can do what I like' ... my only point was that wrapping cars like that (cars engineered for performance) in plastic is a total waste of the machinery, design and is contrary to the whole point of them being manufactured in the first place. His wealth is of s*d all interest to me.

Quite a collection, but I don't think future retro - Ferraris and Lambos have never been on the Retro radar as far as I can tell... We rarely post up E-Types and the like. But definite future classics (if not instant classics in some cases).
If I had the money, I'd buy a Ferrari. Just for the hell of it. Not as a penis extension, just as a toy. I'd like to think that it would get driven too, not wrapped in plastic. I find it hard to believe people that say "If I was rich I'd just stick with my Montego". I'd buy endless amounts of retro tat, but I'd have to have a few supercars too. Maybe even one as an engine donor....

The only real problem with that little lot is the Enzo. Am I the only one who thinks its really unnattractive? So whats the point shrink wrapping one as an ornament?

Blimey some of you can be a bit short, eh? Read the thread then looked at the link...
I was expecting vaulted and cocooned motors, not a line up of motors seemingly ready to rock, with a thin sheet of plastic over them. My piece of SH*T volvo and buggy have been in my garage for years not months, and they've both got covers on them. Is that a total waste?
I've been lucky enough to see garages like this around the world and meet with owners, not once have I met one who was up his own hole or even remotely waving his member anywhere near me.
They lifestyle may give them the funds to own cars like this, but not the prerequisite time to get them all out on a regular basis. So are they not allowed to own them then? Jeez... We'd be screwed on here if that was the case.
They're cars, celebrate them because one day they won't be here.

Of course they can own them, its their money. However, in my opinion parking a host of supercars in a garage under a sheet of plastic is a waste of the machine and its intended purpose/potential. Its not a personal issue ... its not a commentary on society ... its just my opinion ! Yes, it is good that SOME of these cars are preserved but its still not what the car was built for and as such, is a 'waste' ...

Buuuuut, I'm sure the guy would come in for plenty of stick if he used his F40 every day on the school run and going to Tescos, picking up dings and sitting in traffic queues. People would say that he's abusing a classic car and it should be protected
