Well chaps i keep hearing alot of mixed views on airbag lights being on for the mot.
Now my one is on as when i changed the wheel i forgot to put the 1.8 ohm resistor and 2 amp blade fuse in, now its gone through the MOT the past 2 years no problem.
now some guys on another forum i fequent reckon its now a mot failure to change steering wheels, i just cannot believe this is the case but if any one can shed any light on this that would be great.
so far o have heard:
its a mot failure to change steering wheels
its a mot failure if the light is on
its a mot pass as long as you put tape over the air bag light as it does not need to come on and go off like the abs light...
So what is the deal with airbag lights now??
cheers

ABS light must work correctly from the start of this year. So yes, it's a failure if the light is on. You CAN change the wheel, as long as you sort the light out. Changing to a non-airbag equipped wheel, that could be a failure, don't know. Tape over the light is a definite fail now. Get the light to work correctly. If it's equipped, it has to.

yeah i have been told so may things recently from people, i don't know what to believe anymore lol, my abs light is fine its just my airbag light that is the problem, i have the resistor, i mean i could put the resistor and turn the light off, so then it will come on and off with the ignition as it should, i supose i could just take my airbag wheel with me when i get it mot'd, if it fails on teh wheel change then i wil just swap it over there and then and get it passed and change it back again

Track driver magazine did a feature in the last issue on how the new rules will affect modified cars, using a track prep'ed Clio 182 as an example.
It's available free either in print by delivery or electronically. I recommend it, lots of technical features and advice for preparing and driving track cars.

why not just fit the original airbag wheel for the MoT? There is no law saying you must have an airbag at all times, just a new rule on the MoT that an airbag component must not be missing at the time of test.....
and to clarify - on an airbag equipped vehicle, the SRS/airbag light must function and self test correctly, and all airbag components must be present and not obviously deployed (this goes for seatbelt pretentioners too...). Until 1/4/12 it is an advisory only, but next week you can fail for it.

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in
