Copies this from my local forum. So after attempting to change the engine in my last golf (and failing) i was thinking of starting all over again, but then this popped up for a reasonable price and it was just down the road. So the white one became a well needed parts doner ! .. anyways the new one little spec - its a 85' (84 spec) KJET 8v GTI, 144k on the clock and the usual booklet of reciepts I picked it up looking like this minus the RM's .. needed a few bushes and bits of welding for a fresh MOT so got them done straight away and started on getting it how i wanted to look. First up was my RM's that i refurbed for my white one, hense the colour then i moved on to sorting out the ride height, rather than mess around with the 'C' spanner i swapped the coilovers over from my white one which resulted in this .. Then Marty decided to pop down for a photo shoot so it would have been rude not to tag along, and I'm glad i did then came players, Where my rear bearing went on the way down resulting in an 8 hour journey from cardiff with a stop off in swindown to get it replaced, anyway managed to get it to the show and here's how she looked, Then Phil took these at the KK meet .. The NotSoAmazingEngineBay .. Since then I've also added a bit of white vacume pipe in places, and added this .. Then picked 2 of these up Sunday And then by magic it now looks like this I'll get more pics up when I can get on te laptop tomorrow, hope you like ..

Excellent golf! I really like the painted RM's without polished stuff.

Cheers mate so heres what happned on the lead up to ultimate dubs .. my wheels got refurbed the week before the show and got picked up friday afternoon an built up straight away, heres how they came out .. so saturday came along and with a todo list as long as my arm i set about watching the rugby instead, as you do .. so this is how it looked saturday afternoon, a little trimming of the rear arches were in order, and also new arch trims were supposed to be fitted but the seller who 'assured' me they would fit lied, and they didnt, so a frantic drive to halfords for paint supplies happened at 6 and you can work out the rest. also in between all this going on i manages to mop, machine polish and wax the car .. i really don't know how haha anyway, it got to the show sunday with a minor issue of one wheel leaking slightly, no biggy ! was well happy with the spot i was given outside, even though i was next to an awesome aired out jetta lol heres all the pics i can find of it at the moment, hopfully more will serface soon and i can get more 'proffesional' looking shots.

Bloody lovely.
When I was in the Dub scene back in 98 - 02 it was all about the late spec big bumper Mk2's - nobody wanted the early ones. I think your car puts forward a massive argument that the early cars look way better than the bloaty late spec ones!
Much closer to the pure Mk1 campaign cars in looks - a credit to you!

I love a nice early spec mk2, had a few myself and I love that exhaust, nice take on the original design that, although a B plater would have had a single pipe rather than a twin pipe

If I remember rightly the early spec ones don't even have the cut out stamp in the valance like later non gti's did, so its a shame you can't even trim the cutout, like I did on my GTD to fit a twin pipe. Anyways it still looks sick

I normally find golfs very boring, but I like yours a lot. Very nicely done.

That's beautiful... I'm sure it appeared on the general board shortly before you posted up a thread definitely remember seeing it somewhere. Think the wheels work well in silver with painted lips. Not seen that before. I have a B reg CL and am trying not to spend too much money on it. This doesn't help!

Immediately recognised the uni buildings in those first few photos, what a lovely Golf! Where are those underground shots taken? Looks almost like the underground bit of the Millennium Stadium? We took our Formula Student car up into the stadium last year for a cheeky photoshoot and test run
