I'm planning on recreating a sort of tin can alley target range for my lad and his air rifle. just last night we sat for over an hour shooting paper targets, coke and tomato soup cans hung from string then progressed to potatoes and apples ;D i'll be making some simple spinning targets soon and a more permanent tin can alley these are from our recent trip to an Orlando Gun range: enjoy

Sounds like good idea / fun. Just make sure that stray pellets don't cross other peoples land to stay within the law. Certainly don't make such a range within a urban area with neighbours around as you could expect a knock at the door from Police and council if found out. If you live on a farm or have loads of land in remote location "go for it" From www.basc.org.uk/en/codes-of-practice/air-rifles.cfmFiring pellets beyond your boundary It is an offence to fire an air rifle pellet beyond the land where you have permission to shoot, unless the occupier of the neighbouring land has also given you permission. Where someone under 14 is shooting, both the young person and the supervising adult can be prosecuted. It is also against the law, in England and Wales, to fire an air rifle within 50 feet of the centre of a highway if this results in someone being injured, interrupted or endangered. These offences could be committed, for example, when someone is shooting in their garden close to a road and the pellets ricochet onto the highway. It is an offence in Scotland to discharge any gun in a culpable or reckless manner. This means shooting without caring about the safety of others. Paul H

Interested in which range you visited as we were refused entry to a range at the National Police Museum in Titusville as we were non US residents. Something to do with the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) legislation.

well following a looong day at work Sunday with hassle around every corner I got home to my lad itching to "make" some targets. how could I say no because of a crappy day at work. being a Sunday I explained the only way we could "make" anything was from odds n ends in the garage. 20 mins later we'd found: 2 ladder racks left from previous owner of house 3 rolls of electrical tape found in the footwell of one of my old caddys several pieces of wire from the seat back of a mk1 caddy seat I stripped for the base one you tube video about kebab stick flag targets 4 curtain pole brackets a random piece of chipwood that i'd cut from something and saved this "scrap" end beware these are VERY basic targets, but so far we salvaged bits of wire/wood/brackets to make two useable targets that should hopefully hold his imagination until we can get to the range. we've managed to hang Drinks Cans and fruit so far, the scrap piece of wood was the exact size of the paper targets you get at the range so that was good luck. they simply stick in the soil at the end of the garden, two spare flagstones behind for the pellets to deaden on and we're officially up and running next thing is some type of boxed knock down targets which we can reset thanks

Something to do with the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) legislation. apologies for the delay fella, we used Oakridge Gun Range. I'd emailed them from the UK to ensure there would be no issues. The main thing they were concerned about was gun safety, as long as I ensured my 12yr old understood gun safety they were ok with us using anything.....and I do mean anything. They were friendly and helpful and although its not cheap, for the fun you have there's worse ways to blow $100

ooh you're a villa owner then?? tell me more....we've two'd and fro'd many years over whether to invest in one or not, the time is absolutely right at the moment as they've all plummeted in price but we're worried because we like something a little different each year that we'd regret the purchase in the end?

Looks like your getting a nice little set-up going there.
Out of interest, is the bipod any good?
I've read lots about bipods being useless for springers, but I've never tried one personally.
Would be interesting to see how you've got on using yours though.

Ben, thanks for the comments. It's all very early very rough stage atm bit we will get there. As for the bipod it actually works surprisingly well. Maybe because the gun is relatively small ? But after all the info on the net saying don't get a bipod this homemade one works a treat
