With tomorrow being payday, the plan is to order up a new offside outer sill panel. And order up a new diff mount bush to try and get a bit more done for fitting the LSD whilst waiting for the sill to appear. Plan is to start taking out the seats and carpet on Saturday, and get as much prep work done as I can (and see what other rot I can find on the sills inside the car) And procure a sheet of 2mm steel for sill upright replacements, and other plate work I may need to use it on. Unless the general consensus is not to have 2mm in the middle of the sills

So I managed to wrestle the carpet out of my car today at the workshop Although before removing it from the car, it looks decidedly disgusting! Was a nightmare to remove the centre console, as some dingus had wired in the radio without any thought of bunching wires together 🤐 But got there in the end, and also trimmed the rear edge of the glovebox. As that was tight against the dash vent trunking since fitting the sub box behind the glovebox area! And after removed the sound insulation pads from the rear floor, was greeted with a nice little surprise... I have enquired with Ex-pressed panels for a sill, but that was only yesterday and I've no idea how quickly they respond

Got the car from 105 bhp at the crank to 152 at the wheels.nitrous going on next.....if it ain't broke,keep bolting on go faster parts until it is........ www.fordgranadaclubuk.freefo.de

Has it been plated up from the underside before? Yup, inner sills have been done in the years I've owned it. And I've never treated them it would appear. And the rot never properly chopped out when welded either

It does catch up eventually. I've boshed plates over rot for people in the past, usually causes more issues further down the line.

Ordered the replacement sill panel on Tuesday, and just playing the waiting game now 😑 Sheet of steel was ordered on Wednesday, and will turn up on Wednesday coming up hopefully And also ordered a new poly bush for the diff mount, and a bit of steel tube from Amazon as well. Whether the tube is what it says it is, remains to be seen tho... Yesterday (6th May) was spent having a tidy up of my work bench area at work, and attacking the underside of the offside sill to see how bad it actually is Actually surprised at how clean looking the sill is in front of the rotten section!

Check around the fuel filler pocket on the Micra, if it gone there its not worth the hassle trust me! You'll be wanting to set the thing on fire. Last one I did it would probably have been quicker to unpick the quarter panel and put it back on by the time I'd finished it! Advised the old fella it would be better to scrap it but he wanted it doing!

Getting as much prepped as I can for someone else to stitch together, yes 😁 Also, had a break from the Micra the past 2 weeks. Last weekend I had a parcel arrive from my (and mr ) friend Rob, which had a pair of rear hubs Only after the drive flange for now, so popped both out and gave them both a going over and a bit of stress relieving Just need to order up some drive flange adapters, and the fatter driveshafts and CV joints will bolt up then 🤞 Today, was attacking the right hand, rear floor and jacking point

Had a moment of distraction at lunchbreak today, and bolted a thing to my engine (Of course, it got tidied up and relieved on a nasty edge so as not to ruin the oil pressure line) And via 4 bolts from my pot of random fasteners, was bolted up Need to dig out the aircon matrix for the dash that I have in my bag of parts at home, and work out the rest of the faff to get A/C working in my car

So, I managed to remove the copper pipe from my car on Saturday. And replace it with kunifer (copper pipe only belongs in a bathroom as far as I'm concerned!) I have discovered that 10mm pipe is a swine to bend tho, even with proper pipe bending tools... On the plus side, it does flare beautifully with the vise mounted flaring tool. And both pipes routed out the way of where the A/C compressor will live, and with provision for another pipe retaining clamp on the end of a compressor retaining bolt as well

Right, let's see how I get on with this new layout for updating then... The past 2 weeks, I've meant to have had a week off work, to work on my own car. Thats actually only meant 15hours over two week days. Managed to replace the offside rear, outer CV joint flange without issue. Went to replace the nearside rear, outer flange, and it pulled the wheel bearing apart on removal New bearing ordered for that, and hopefully get that replaced next week. I have managed to chop out some rot Doors off, and digging to decent material Made up some bits for the lower A post section And the top of the A post had some new stuff welded in

Bit more progress yesterday. Managed to finish the sill upright panel, hole punch and swage that, and coat one side of that and the outer sill with weld thru primer And the car is currently taking up too much room in the workshop (which I'm very grateful about, thank you boss) And a bit that needs more attention

Right then people, small update time I guess. Mojo has been at an all time low, and work has been either manic or seemingly hard going (or both). Managed to make up a repair for the inner rear arch, and that was welded in. And also just blitzed the exposed metal with some etch primer I had to hand Also made up a section for under the windscreen, and that got zapped in without too much fuss And also fabbed up a repair section for underneath the hole in the passenger foot well Which goes underneath this panel And got some rattle can paint as well Managed to chop out a bit more of the sill upright, and welded up the panel for the bottom of the drivers side A post And ordered a pair of driveshaft CV adapters from JohnnyBravo so I can use the TVR driveshafts with the mk2 Granada drive flanges in the rear hubs
