Its a term that i've heard in these parts but being a n00b its a foreign concept. I understand it as undersize tyres on oversize wheels? SO, how does this work, what is it's purpose, is it safe/legal and where can i buy one?!!!1! I want pics too people.... many thanks...

it is safe and legal, and buy normal tyres and then just get a friendly tyre fitter to fit them on. best find someone with a beadblaster if you go for silly stretch. i used to run stretched rubber but a lot of people do it now just for looks so its a bit stupid. i think big chunky gumball tyres look better anyway.

The main reason people run stretch is so you can fit bigger wheels with more offset (hence better looking) under stock arches.
I find theres alot of confusion over what exactly i classed as 'stretched' imo a 175/50/13 on a 7" rim isnt relly stretched its a pretty good size for the rim yet most tyre fitters tell you you should have grossly oversized 205s or something??.

Relly?, when i had the 5j steelies on the fiesta they had 185s on them they and they were utter poop, (yeh, the the ones now on marcs car ) apparently 'shrunk' tyres used to be a popular mod back in the day when povo spec cars came with 135s or something and i guess people got a bit carried away as people do nowerdays putting 175s on their 9Js ;D

not much point trying to get stretch on 6j's. 145/13's on my 7j peeperpots might be a little more interesting like no traction for starters ;D!

Slater is the man to speak to! I believe he has rotten old 165/70s on the splits on his mini. I think they're 7x10s but you'll have to wait for him to come along again.
