Taken from: speedyzx.com/ShastaJuly02/Shasta.htmlJust trying to improve my knowledge a bit more: Quite a few of the cars on that page are SR20DET powered. What car(s) did we get that engine in as standard? The designations confuse me...

Some of these babys have been on here before, but I'm sure no-one will mind their timely re-appearance!
I've got loads of pictures of doggy ones with rust.
God I'd love one. As well as a C110, C130 etc etc.

The SR20DET is the engine to have these days on the west coast. It's amazing how many cars have them now considering the US didn't get SR20DET's in anything there...they are all imported from Japan! Here we got them in the last generation of 200SX (S14 model) that were sold here. That's the only UK model to have the RWD SR20DET. The Sunny/Pulsar GTiR has an SR20DET but it's transverse and the FWD block is different so can't be used RWD. A stock SR20DET is 205bhp and a VVL one is 220bhp so it's a pretty good starting point The latest VVL and VVT version is 278bhp..from the factory! They are only available in Japan though. The blue 510 pictured has a KA24E, not a KA24DE. The KA24E is the SOHC version and the KA24DE is the DOHC (that's the one I have in my 510) Both are strong and very torquey engines. In the states they came in everything from pickups to the 240SX (S13 ...like our 200SX with the pop-up headlights) They even had them in some FWD Altima's. Here in the UK the only vehicle I can think of with the KA24E was the Terrano. We never got the DOHC version at all. To use a Terrano engine in a conversion you would have to find a gearbox to suit it. Only one I can think of that would fit is from a Nissan D21 pickup or Datsun 720 Kingcab. The stock KA24E is 140bhp but has 152ft/lb of torque...and that with emmisions stuff and cats. Not many US 510's get converted to CA18DET or FJ20ET engines as the engines are not common there but both of those are popular Aussie swaps. Personally I would say the CA18DET is the perfect engine for a 510 as it's so small and light. The FJ is a heavy monster but capable of ridiculous power. It's such a shame there are nearly no 510's left here
