just lost the first go at this so here is a short version lol set of from blackpool at around 10.30 after sorting the wife and kids out. the trip south was quiet with the only spot was a dukes of hazard charger project on a truck heading north on the m6 toll. that was until i hit the m40 and this (not my pic but this IS the car) went past me as if i was going backwards. my radio was off and the window open, and with it going full chat the sound was AWSOME ;D on to reading to meet the guy who was selling the gearbox. he was a nice chap with a few volvo 940-960s sat around that he was stripping. he also had these sat in the corner 2 se5a scims, there are his mates that are sat there waiting for resto. so with money exchanged and parts secure in the car i set of to pick up my bro in laws bike parts from bromley. my sat nav had a brain fart and sent me back to the mway a different way. via sandhurst. i must admit seing SANDHURST KNOB SHOP on a big sign on the side of a building made me laugh for a good few miles ;D just before i got to the m20 turn off i stopped for food and fuel it was a quick stop but with me and the car fueled i headed to bromley where the car was filled with motor bike parts. the trip north was quiet and uneventful but the sunset was nice. until the rain at birmingham. but it was dark by then. i finaly got home about 11pm. after 12 hours and 601 miles, i was tired but happy that i have now got the main parts for me to start the t5 scim my steed for the day was this my old volvo 850 2.5 awd lpt, shes showing her age and i don't think she will see past her next mot, but she didnt miss a beat all day and did 35mpg andy

You're well under way now, mate.
Those seized nuts and bolts are a swine. WD40 is alledgedly not the best thing for the job, but repeated dousing the bolts for a couple of days before you need to remove them seems to have worked well enough for me so far.
That's one dinky gearbox. It looks like the linkage lends itself well to being chopped and shortened.

PlusGas for soaking stuck bolts - I've found it hard to come by though - got it from a motor factors in Birmingham somewhere in the end. WD40 is a Water Dispersant, not really a penetrating fluid (although it's ok, it's not as god as plusgas) (I also recently bought some GT-85, not sure how well that works yet, as I don't have any more rusty bolts now . Smells lovely though, lol ) Hth Mike.

not much to report as ive been working away for the past week or so. i managed an hour in the garage last night. dicontected a few more hoses from around the steering rack. this is leaking realy bad so it looks like a recon one or may rebuild it my self if there a kit? also got both exhausts off the car.

Re steering racks - I'm not so sure it's a diy job tbh... Mark Wilson's your man really.
He's rebuilt quite a few pas racks for scim owners, and gets good praise. He did my manual rack as well a couple of months bac, and has done a cracking job.
From memory, my rack cost 90 quid to have rebuilt - pas ones will be a bit more expensive - depending on what's required.
Cheers,
Mike.
