^^^ It was the run up to the event as much as anything, get to the stage 5 or 6 hours before it started in the middle of the night, walk through the forest for hours until you found a good vantage point then wait, talking bo11ocks with your mates, freeszing your nads off, until the stage was live ;D.Then trapesing back 4 or 5 mile to the car, freezing cold but in good spirits.
Yep - appy days............
When it was the RAC and it went all over the country it was brilliant.
I've been to Keilder, Hamsterly, Grizedale, plus all the spectator specials at chatsworth and donington
I've slept in cars and vans overnight between days - I've cycled to stages cos you can get to great vantage places fast on stage before it goes live on a push bike
As the Rally of
Totaly ruined a once great event - dummed it down to the point where it's a shadow of it's former self and going backwards along the same stage (unless it's sweet lamb) just doesn't cut the mustard for me.
I'll maybe do the Rally of South Wales a few more times but to be brutally honest the organisers don't want spectators on the event and the organisation stage times location in fact everything is designed to stop spectators IMHO
