This is a P-reg Mercedes C250D, which means it gets a 5-pot diesel with no turbo but with twin cams and 20 valves, and the gearbox is a 4-speed auto. It's MoT'd until 9th August and has had a shedload of money spent on it over the last few years. It does have a number of issues though, which I will list without further ado:-
-Needs a good service - it runs rather lumpy at low revs. It smooths out over about 2,000rpm though, and makes a nice 5-pot warble at higher revs.
-Kickdown doesn't work, so if you want to take it over about 3,000 revs you have to change gear manually. It drives fine in "D" if you're not in too much of a hurry though, and all the gears engage OK. If you do use it as a manual the engine is surprisingly revvy for a diesel, pulling happily to 5,000rpm, and sounds good too.
-Cruise control doesn't work, nor does the intermittent setting for the wiper, and the wiper just sweeps back and forth normally - it doesn't do the Mercedes jiggle thing any more. Still clears the screen well enough though. Also the speedo occasionally misbehaves.
-Paintwork is patchy in places and the sills and the bottom half of the front bumper have been painted black, not particularly well. There are odd rust scabs here and there, but nothing major, and better than some P-reg Mercs I've seen.
-The exhaust back box is currently in the boot. It's not excessively noisy as it is though.
Other than that it's OK - starts fine, doesn't overheat, lights and heater etc. all work fine. It has electric front windows, mirrors and sunroof, all of which work. It's done around 172K.
