Its driveable everywhere without having to worry about it scrapping (my old mk4's use to be sump smashers!) I just jump in it and take it for a blast when I want. Work only took a total of 11 days - but it was spread over 11 months due to ill health, work & family. Only issue so far was a little rough running (dirt in the tank) and a loose driveshaft. And it gets about 38mpg on a run. The week after it was MOT'd I took it on a 1200 mile round trip! have some pics of my old mk4's in comparison:- Amber - 1.6 CL - all the way down on Weitecs and 8x15 Schmidts back in 2002 ![](http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b58/mrdubstyle/PICT0225.jpg) Polo 16v - All the way down on ebay coilovers with Comp TH's in 8x15 ![](http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b58/mrdubstyle/08102009116.jpg) ![](http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b58/mrdubstyle/08102009119.jpg)

MOT time - so its off the road. Found the 14's catch on full lock - FAIL (3mm spacers save the day) Exhaust has a small hole (selftapper & firegum FTW) Has a LHD p/s rear lamp so my reverse light comes on red - fixed by removing bulb! Clocks have to come out as the full beam blue light bulb has blown! Good job I've got a spare Also will have to swop the AFM to the old one as I have 2 setups - 1 that spits flames and another to pass the MOT! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Nice. I would add clear indicators and maybe all red lights at the back. Also maybe polybushes just to stiffen it up. Agree on the mk4's slammed smashing up gear boxes/mounts. Mine was lower than the one in the photo and I broke it 3 times before giving up on it

All the bushes have been replaced with poly bushes - its even got a genuine set of G40 rose-jointed front arms. I love it the way it is. 110dB air horn makes me smile!
Total cost all in was about £450 + wheels and tyres

The full GT running gear inc, engine, gearbox, loom, fuel pump and rear axle all cost £350 - interior was £100 (G40) and the rest of the bits and pieces I had in my garage. Wheels were an extra - £50 at mates rates for the rims + £168 for new tyres (185/55/14)
I've spent a little here and there on it inc the grill, uprated headlight loom with switched relays, radio, speakers etc.
But the initial cost of getting on the road was about £450. it just passed its MOT again this year about a month ago with 1 advisory on the handbrake on the d/s as it wasnt working correctly, but fixed the adjuster under the axle with wd40 and now it works
