Yo.
At some point later this year I'm looking to flog the Jaaaag and get some form of retro camper. Being an awkward sod I don't want the standard VW or camper bodied transit, I want BIIIIIG. I do a number of steam rallies with friends, vehicles including a Diamond T 980 and a Unipower Forester, so I want something to act as a support vehicle to those. I'm looking at either a converted Green Goddess, something like an Austin K9 with a large classic caravan, or ideally a classic bus or lorry conversion.
Main problem with this grand plan is space. The yard where the Dt & Unipower live is full to capacity then some, which is a bummer given that it's 5 minutes walk from my house. Before I can even contemplate buying a vehicle I need somewhere to put it!
I know I'm unlikely to get indoor accomodation for something of that size (an open sided barn would be ace though), but a corner of a transport yard or farmyard would be just fine. Would need to be able to do maintenance work on it- hand tools etc, possibly a genny to provide power on very rare occasions.
Looking to pay up to £100 per month depending on location, security etc- if it was absolutely perfect then I'd consider going a smidgen higher.
Ideally within 25 miles of Stonehouse, Gloucestershire.
Long shot? Yeah, but if you don't ask...
Cheers,
Matt

Cheers for the thought - no big stuff unfortunately (but did get a work mate's car in there!).

Austin K9's FTW! I just leave mine on my parents front garden.... This picture is from Google streetview, taken during the repaint.... Under the blue tarp is an Austin Champ, and behind the gates was another K9 with harveyfrost crane.

Nice collection!
I've a soft spot for K9s, and Q4s and RLs- that era of MV's (and AFS kit) seems a bit forgotten to the enthusiasts. Just about the right size too, big enough to have presence without being so huge you can't put them anywhere!
Unfortunately Scammell Pioneers are definitely too big to put on the drive, especially when they come in pairs! He has a late 50's Unipower Forester as well, and a mutual friend has a (very nearly restored) Diamond T 980. Those two are in barns near my house- both sadly full of other stuff.
I'm hoping if he does find somewhere there will be room for me to hide something in a corner, that said I've been offered one of the Pioneers...
Karl, I've had a quick look online and could see a couple of potentially suitable industrial units, garages etc. Industrial rent tends to be fairly steep for the size we need though (big doors required!).

Bumping this... Still half looking for somewhere! Luke, I actually live in Arrowsmith and know of the farm (there's quite a bit of interesting stuff hidden in the barns!) but a.) I'm not sure how long it's going to be there for and b.) it's pretty damn full, and the lovely folk of Arrowsmith tend to complain about things spoiling the view- presumably since the caravans belong to them that's OK, but big green lumps of lorry is frowned upon! It's a shame 'cos it'd be ideal for me. Where are you based out of interest? A few nice classic & retro cars about. mdh- it's next year now did anything come of that (or could it potentially still do so), I'm in no great rush. Toy fund still rather depleted after wrapping the other half's MX5 around a signpost and having to fund the replacement!
