The Rocco passed it's MOT yesterday morning... I had an advisory on a noisey rear wheel bearing, and I paid them £12 to have the carb set up. The wheel bearing will have to be replaced soon, but I stripped it and re-greased it so it doesn't make as much noise now. All in all - I'm well chuffed ;D

Congrats on the MOT The wheel bearing will have to be replaced soon, but I stripped it and re-greased it so it doesn't make as much noise now. Wouldn't it have been just as easy to put a new wheel bearing in?

Wouldn't it have been just as easy to put a new wheel bearing in? Definately - but my local motor factors didn't have any yesterday, so I've got one on order for the weekend.

The wheel bearings on the back of water cooled dubs are adjustable, but they never get adjusted as they're only cheap, plus lots of people don't know Take it off, clean it, spin it and "check for roughness" as they say, then re-pack with a good quality, high temp bearing grease (everyone I know uses Castrol LM). Then bosh them back in and adjust as per the manual with a new split pin. If you can't get them adjusted right then they need to go in the bin.

Yep - done all that and it's still rough and noisey...there were little bits of metal within the bearing itself when I took it apart Anyhow, £3.73 + VAT for a new one can't be bad
