Hi I need some new rear springs for the Viva as it's very stiff at the moment I know next to nothing about suspension so I need to know how I go about ordering some softer springs and where to get them from. How do I work out what kind of springs I need to make it softer? It's got Spax shocks if that makes any difference. I'm going to Scotland in it for two weeks next month so I have to get it sorted by then. Cheers

I can't remember the formula, but spring stiffness depends on the diameter of the wire it's made from, the diameter of the coils and the number of coils. To get a softer spring, reduce wire diameter, increase coil diameter (not really possible on a car) or increase the number of coils. I don't think it depends on anything else - maybe someone else will have a better memory than me?

They may be set up too stiff Have you tried putting something heavy in the boot to see if the ride improves ? If the springs are too stiff the ride will improve with weight in it. South yorkshire springs will make some for you if you need them ? Cheers Dom

Id take a guess at it being the shocks that are the problem not the springs. Deffo worth a look!
