OK, got the Fairmont up for an MOT and its not a terrible fail but for a car I was going to use as a daily its a long list for something I don't think is really what I want, when I already have a bunch of dead or sick cars here...
fail - handbrake mechanism siezed up, indicators don't work, wipers don't work, washers don't work, has an electrical fault which drains the battery dead in no time. Brake lines corroded to excess. needs 4 tyres, emissions off the scale, fuel leak from tank sender.
It has the 200cu (3.3 litre) six, this runs on 5 cylinders, believe it has a blown head gasket, also taps like it may have dropped a valve, broke a spring or collapsed a lifter. I can't recall if they are hydraulic on these.
3 speed manual, works well, floor change.
Interior is practically mint. Nice red vinyl with Mexican style cloth inserts.
Body is good. It has a few dings and such in it, and a few primer spots, and the structure of the car is perfect, not a problem underneath anywhere.
It was a studio car for EMI and then Nine Nine Action Vehicles down at Pinewood Studios. Believed to have been used in Death Wish 3, Superman 4, possibly the first 2 Batman movies and others where it acted as a NYPD police car. Its been on movie sets since 1984 so the mileage could even be genuine.
It has plugs in the roof where the light bar etc. was fitted. It has a radio mast base thing on the driver's wing, and has had a police radio thing in it, so I bought a neat old CB to go in it.
These cars are Fox platform and identical* to the third generation Mustang - I planned to wait on a rotten or wrecked 5.0GT to turn up so I could make the Fairmont into a V8 manual...
*there will doubtless be some differences....
The engine has new plugs, leads, distributor cap, rotor arm, etc. Has also had new battery leads and may even come with a nice new battery.

I'll chuck in these police spec hub caps I wasted my money importing from the US of A.
Haynes manual and anything else which seems relevant.
I'll pop up interior pictures later.
Its a nice sensible sized yank with a manual box and a load of potential.
