The 'bizzle is back And with a car right up my street. How cool is that mk1. And that engine bay is just amazing. The Duratec sits in there beaut, but I'm still amazed people can get their engine bays looking that neat and uncluttered! Very, very cool mk1 that. And borderline exotica for it to be in the US too!

I don't post often, but I really like this 1300GT! Not that you could ever go far wrong with a Mk1 in Olympic blue. It just looks so simple and straightforward. Which I suppose probably means it wasn't easy to do at all. That engine bay clean-up must have been a bit of an effort, but well worthwhile. I like the subtle differences that are a result of the car being in the US:- like the stripes are like Mexico stripes, but not quite the same. Some things never change though - like that annoying gap in the silver bead in the rear screen rubber The first picture is great, because it shows the best Escort "pose" - looking like it's just come around the corner, accelerating, over-steering with just a hint of opposite lock. In fact, if I get a mk1 again, I think I'd fit and adjust coil springs all round such that it sat tail down and lent over to one side. Then park it with just a hint of steering lock. Job done.

I don't see how anyone can object to this, inoffensively awesome. Are Duratecs coil on plug as standard? No or least the 2.0s in Mk3 Mondeos and Fiesta STs are not. I would guess that it is either a very late Duratec engine, or a 1.8 SCi engine (I believe that they were coil on plug). Great engines which IMO cover almost all areas (economy, power, weight, sound just about). A Duratec in an old school Ford with some ITBs is definitely a winner in my book. Where's Hoop's Spock segment of win picture when you need it?
