basically my car didn't go backwards rather went forwards when put into reverse this morning. i pulled forward in 1st and then put it into reverse and was fine and reversed the car a few times today.
then tonight i go to reverse and have no reverse lights and will only go forward in reverse, also driving along tonight after the issue it made a almost electric motor sounding whirring noise, i took it out of gear and put it back in and it drove fine but still no reverse
the car pulls fine through all gears 1to4
the car in question is a 1989 golf mk2 1.3
could it maybe be lack of oil causing the issue or a selector issue
i had similar issue when i refitted the car and was due to the linkage being needing setup but cant see it undoing itself?
any help appreciated
