Just returned (Tuesday) from a long weekend in Krakow. Didn't see too many retro's but managed to snap a few during a tour of the city (much to my wife's annoyance !) Enjoy. Ben I think this ones's a Fiat but they make there own Polonez versions of many retro fiats. Old Carlton Fiat 126 / Polonez 126's This was held together with gaffer tape, then sprayed over! Only Beetle I spotted I wonder how many times he has been offered a grand for this! More.........

It all makes Poland and Places like CZ, and soon Romania and Bulgaria seem really attractive doesn't it.
Nice to dream.

I got proper excited when i saw that. thats the typical state of them in Poland, and they are the most slow thing in the world. they totally own! cant wait to go to krakow again! Here is our Nysa, eventually should be two tone blue. Re-furbed engine. No rust. Generally beutiful!

What's the deal with Nysa? I've never heard of them. Anyone care to give a quick outline of what they are?

They first appeared in the 1950s and the nose changed a bit, but they were made up until the mid-1980s. Very basic. Wooden floor boards over the chassis, no winding windows, 3 speed box requiring double de-clutch on the earlier ones. I think they were suppose to be like a Transit, only made by the Government on a budget. I don't really know much on the way of a detailed history, i might try and find a book on them...

Yeah the 1st pic is an FSO 125 P, licence built fiat.
My mate told me FSO stood for For Scrap Only.... don't know how true that was.

Cheers skudnorm. Any idea what throbbing powerplant is concealed beneath the sleek bodyshell? I'd love to turn up to a VW event in one, just to be different! I bet parts are a b'stard to get... no popping to Eurocarparts for a dizzy cap etc...
