Ok ok am attacking the underside of my car over the next few weeks wire wheeling any rusty scabs on the underneath of the car in preperation to apply a healthy amount of stone chip paint. Now in some areas the rust is hard to attack and get rid of, is there any recomendations for something I can apply on and trat it?? I was thinking 'Crust'?? Any help please Thanks, Adam

POR 15 Metal Ready is the best I have used. It's liquid and comes in a spray bottle so you can get it into some awkward spots. I get it from Frosts: ClickyDo not spray it in your eyes though, it stings like hell, don't ask me how I know ;D

thanks mate
Will have to try that.
Whats the steps with that then, I can just apply that to the rust areas and then it eats away the rust???
Would you put some of the Por 15 paint over that too then apply the stone chip??

Hi again.
Was reading up on this POR 15 and its talkin about being able to paint over it.
I would use the POR 15 spray rust remover and then the Rust Preventative Paint but can I paint stone chip over this or do i need the POR 15 primer too???

That POR looks great, specially for nooks and crannies POR - spray paint - waxoyl, or something like that.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

i'm doing a small area under my wheel arch atm, what ive done is wire brushed it as much as i can, then 2x coats kurust 2x coats hammerite anti rust primer, then 2x coats (or more) normal hammerite, then waxoyl underbody seal, then possibly a good hosing of plain waxoyl

Just remove as much rust as possible (drill mounted wire brush is my weapon of choice), then just spray POR-15 Metal Ready all over it and leave it. The rusty bits should then turn silver. Usually takes about half an hour, but just keep the area wet until the reaction is complete. Then just wash if off with a hose. I've tried a few other over the counter rust killers, but this seems the most aggressive by a long way. The POR-15 paint is also very good and doesn't seem to chip like Hammerite. Didn't need a primer for it. Not sure if you can overpaint it with stone chip though. If you have a look on the POR-15 site, there are some application and usage guides.
