Hi
i have just come to the end of a re-build and want to have my rocker covers chromed they are on a rover v8, however i cant buy any fom the club and they said that no one can chrome them ?? is this true or can anyone recomend someone that may have done this in the past ? also in my area would be good ( Cambridge ) but i don't mind sending the off for a good job ! thanks

I thought that rover V8 rocers covers were aluminium? If they are then you could have them chromed, this involves various coatings before a chrome like finish is applied.
But far easier would be to have the polished, this will result in a very good almost mirror finish. To keep them this way they will need a laquer coat to prevent oxidation.

stuff the buggering about, Edelbrock do a set of small block chevy ones with adaptor plates to fit the rover and gaskets included all in a kit, about 150 quid new i think but watch e-bay they come up for about a ton buy it now quite often, once my own 3.5 V8 motor is running right i will be investing in some along with an offy inlet and weber holley 390 if i can afford it, bumps up the HP nicely with some tubular manifolds.

Try Peterborough Plating, they're dead good... Guys got a mint Cossie with everything done on it. Nice blast over the fens for you too old boy? Maybe integrate it with a spot of work... www.peterboroughplating.co.uk/

There's a guy on eBay who does chromed rocker covers - will chrome yours for about 130 quid. He did the ones for my Stag engine Came up a real treat, some slight pitting - but that's down to the material underneath. Look great!

When I had my Rover V8 Datsun, i got some 1960 Buick Valve covers for it. They are pressed steel. Maybe ebay from the U, S and A?
