Over the years I've had serveral of these. Your sat in a pub with mates half cut and a new project idea pops into your head. Normally leads to a bit of eBay searching over the next few days until the realisation that time, money and already ongoing projects puts thngs on hold. My current one is a hearing aid beige volvo 240 estate with a lexus v8 wedged in. It may well happen, but with the list of others to finish first, might be some time yet. So, what are your beer mat projects?

Mine is also a Volvo 240 estate. But with a scania V8 diesel in the back running stock 22.5" truck duelys and a super narrowed axel so they sit inside the body but with the top of the tires above the window line and visible. With twin exhaust stacks coming out of the roof but cut off flush with the roof.
One day... (well, probably not, but I can dream.)

My current one (I drive trucks 10-12 hrs a day and it's what I do, build em in my head that is) thanks to substandard 8 is a Standard 8 with a cappucino 3 cyl motor, turbo replaced with an sc14 supercharger and some fat pipes for that throaty 3 cyl "roar" $500 $5000 $250

Early spec mk2 cavalier (proper bumpers) light/sky blue, nicely stanced (not slammed) on 16" steels. SR interior, and a vectra c ctdi v6. Circa 220bhp 350lbft. With a stealthy turned down exhaust to complete the illusion.

Mk5 Cortina. bride buckets with harnesses, IRS, 15x8 SSR Mesh, Cage, Dildo gear knob, Nardi Torino wheel, Early Zetec well worked over with ITBs with massive trumpets, stock Grey Carousel colours, mk4 grill and bumpers
Its my ultimate ultimate plans for the Qwertina. Want a Japanese style Cortina. Think the shape would take to it well.
Mk2 Escort Estate, 1.4TDCI Engine from a modern fiesta. Would make a brilliant daily. That engne will have more power and torque than a 1.3 Xflow and it'll be £30 a year to tax. Looks wise I'd have it low over some alleycats, interior would be stock Ghia stuff. Preferably in Brown!
Everything sounds so simple when written down like that.

mine would be a EF Civic Shuttle (4WD) running a boost D16A9 engine , a nice set of coilovers and a set of banded steels, I keep on thinking how useful it would be with the little one in tow, but they arent great in a crash so it puts me off again

Mine would be a VW Touran people carrier with full twinturbo'd R32 4x4 running gear. (all the mounts and brackets are already there for the 4x4 haldex - I checked!)

i have 2 in my head:
my wagon, with a fiat coupe 20vt engine, front legs and brembo's, rear legs so it sits slightly wider, full repaint to standard colours, dropped on coilovers with the coupe wheels in silvers so it looks very oem+ remapped bigger turbo so running 300bhp + but looks faily standard from the outside (which may happen if i ever come into some money lol)
2:
Marea weekend, combines with lancia dedra turbo, 4x4, 350 bhp, insane loon, but keep it looking teh same as above, faily oem+ but will completely blow scoobies and evos away, but this will only happen if i win teh lottery lol

i have a few that i also think about if i was to come into some money: 1st) would be a rear engined mini, powered by a v6 diesel out of a dub or something, with 2 gt30 turbo's or something strapped to them, running 13" superlights and with the oem look that would be a scarry monster 2nd) is the car I'm eventually going to build and will be a 100e, metalic blue with 13" superlights, lowrred 3" all round and powered by a nissan gtr v6 again with 2 turbo's 3rd) would be a mk1/2 escort estate with a diesel motor of somesorts, probably a sierra tdi lump with the fuel pump turned right the way up and a bigger turbo, FMIC slammed on 13" superlgiths (again) and south londen looked

Beer was responsible for someone deciding they were going to take the remains of my MX5 and put it all (suspension/backbone etc) under a 105E shell.

Mine aren't retro but I'd love to build 2 cars: An e39 BMW 540i converted into a coupe An e36 coupe with an e39 3.0 turbo diesel engine
I've priced them both up and they seem doable....it's just the time and space really. (oh, and don't get me wrong, i'm not minted either lol)
