I need to get some replacement HT leads for my Rover (214) Enduro rally car.
Any recommendations?
A couple of friends rave over Magnecor leads (two different sizes - 8.0 and 8.5 - what's the difference BTW?), but are they worth twice the price of a set of "performance" leads from my local motor factors?

I had Magnecors on my 1500 - fantastic bits of kit and stunning quality - I doubt I'd ever have had issues with them! The difference between 8.0 and 8.5 is the diameter of the lead, in theory a bigger one means potential for a better conductance...probably minimal in the real world. Cleared up my revving a bit, especially at the higher end, idled slightly less hesitant and probably a marginal increase in power. Definitely worthwhile though. Loved the feel of them

Ignition leads will not produce any more power, they will only restore power that should have been there if the leads were new.
I would use stock leads and replace them every 6 months, that will give you what, two years of new leads VS one set of magnecor leads?
All silicone will deteriorate over time, especially in the harsh engine bay environment. The difference between the magnecor ones and OEM ones cant be that far, and i cant imagine it would command the massive price hike.

Good point - but the standard OEM leads are shocking - did get much fatter sparks with the 'better' leads. I guess it's all subjective

Thanks for the help. As time is running out for the rally at the weekend, I think I'll try the best of what eihter Halfords or my (very good) local motor factors have to offer.
Watch this space for feedback!!
