Regretably I must sell my Land Rover Discovery 300TDI
Good Points:
*Manual
*Cloth interior
*'R' Registration
*Original owners manual included
* 4 Previous Keepers (or less, will check the V5)
*Good spec, including air-conditioning, everything works.
*178000 miles (177000 odd)
*Regularly Serviced
*Recent new brakes front and rear
*Recent new clutch
*Recent new cam belt change
*New Battery
*Starts first time every time.
* Tax until End of March
* MOT until October 2012
* Full set of 5 'Graber' All Terrain Tyres with less then 5000 miles on them with matching set of 300TDI wheels (tyres cost £600 as were new fitted!!)
* Good condition throughout, very reliable and economical 300TDI engine
*Some history
*V5 Present and in my name
*Not modified or abused.
*300TDI problem fixed
Not So Good Points:
*Scrape down drivers side front panel, paint has been removed but the scrape is not that bad.
*The same panel is dented at the front by the indicator cluster, which has caused it to distort against the indicator. There is currently a piece of duct tape across it for MOT-able purposes.
*Dent on the rear drivers side panel (just behind the passenger door)
------The above damage was caused before I bought the vehicle and is a result of the previous owner sinking in a show covered ditch last year and banging against a high sided bank, whilst giving way to oncoming traffic. not as the result of off-road abuse-----
*Patch welded on passenger door frame (drivers side)
*The 'leather' cover around the gear-stick is missing, but a replacement can be included.
*The seals on the sun-roofs (front and rear) leak a little is the vehicle is parked in heavy rain (common problem after time)
*Couple of chips on the windscreen (none on in the drivers view)
The rear drivers side wheel bearing is also on the way out, this will be fixed before the vehicle is collected by the new owner.
The vehicle will also be given a full valet inside before it moves on.
I have described every fault that I am aware of, hoping to sound over critical but honest. I took the vehicle to Morocco last year and it performed flawlessly. I have lots of experience with Land Rovers (I have owned a Series 1 80 inch, 86 inch, a Series 2, a 2A Petrol and Diesel, a Series 3 88, a Series 3 109, a 110 2.5TD, a 90 TD, a 1971 Range Rover, a 1986 Range Rover, a 101, a Defender 90, a Discovery 200TDI and this 300TDI) So I am concious of not wanting to give a false impression of the vehicle. I do not believe the vehicle to have had any other welding other then noted above.
This is definitely the most practical, comfortable and economical Land Rover I have ever owned and I will be genuinely sad to see it sell. I am wrestled with this for some weeks, but I really want to get my 1970s Jeep Cherokee on the road for this summer and have to free up the funds from somewhere
The vehicle was returning 45MPG with three people and lots of kit on the way to Morocco through France and Spain. I regularly get 40+ at a constant speed of 56mph or so. Around the country lanes of Norfolk with city driving thrown in, it's bang on at 30MPG.
I have taken photos, but the camera won't upload them (technology hates me as much as I hate it) so I will enlist the help of a friend and try and upload them tomorrow.
If anything else comes to mind I will edit the post and highlight it.
If there are any questions please ask. I bought and sold a few vehicles on here over the past few months and I hope those people can vouch for me as being an honest no-messer.
