	So was pulled by the local fuzz last night to be told my rear break lights weren't working! Of course they are, it went through its mot not 3 weeks ago. Well they are not working, so anyway! Looked firstly like a dodgy connection as the drivers side wasn't working at all. Removed the bulb and saw it didn't fit properly and was offset connections, so pop to halfords and get a pair of new bulbs and fit. Now both are working but when I apply the breaks the passenger break light works and the drivers side just disappears! Video below..... The circuit board for the drivers side has seen better days and sourced a whole new lift cluster for £10, hoping it will solve it. Penny for your thoughts? As ever, a greatful Rob

	An earth fault is usually the cause of those sorts of fun problems. Change the cluster see if that helps, then meter the connections if it doesn't see if you get a clean 12v on the right pins and ground on the ground pin. Followed a van the other day that had a disco going on when he indicated right and braked at the same time.

	Check teh connectiona haven't coroded at the plug BRAKE lights have the highest power on the rear clusters so they are usually affected most with a dodgy earth and coroded plug ?

	Thanks for your replies, and both were correct, faulty connections and corrosion causing a short circuit is my best guess. Did a quick 60 mile round trip for bits off an old van (and got a load of other useful spares too) cleaned up, fitted new circuit board and boom, good as new (well maybe not new but will at least not give the fuzz the excuse to pull me over ....again!) Thanks as always to the useful members of the forum, for correct diagnosis and treatment! (Admin feel free to remove this thread now as its a resolved problem!)

	You'll get the same weird problem too if the filament burns, hangs down and touches the other filament- press the brakes, one side comes on and the sidelights will come on --Phil
