Normally I'm not a KF fan as they have in the past ripped my wife of something rotten but on Sunday I popped in to enquire about the possibility of exhaust parts for the ZS as the downpipe has snapped. The new manger didn't have any (well yes) but had the car up on hte ramps and welded the whole lot back together for free as he liokes to help old cars keep going.
Nice, above and beyond. Young lad too so nice to see some sympathy for the retro moters. Petrol headds are petrol headds I guess.
Anyway, big up to KF.

Strange, my local one don't seem so helpful. I went in to the local KF for some tires for the Wellers, quoted the size (185/60 on thirteen inch wheels) I needed, had the Wellers with me to get the tyres on, and got looked at like I was speaking a different language from them. In the end a smaller local tyre place had exactly the size I needed, and seem sympathetic to old motors. The Imp gets waves from them when I drive past!

The Imp gets waves from them when I drive past! They aren't waving though, just wafting the steam away from the last time you visited them and overheated in their carpark ;D

It can be a bit hit and miss.
When he tailpipes of our old Mk 3 Gti fell off I bought a rorty torty twin pipe back box from Demon Tweeks. With no time to fit it I wheeled the car into KF (well my wife did). Bear in mind that thi box fitted a standard system (which the golf had). Anyway my wife went to pick up the car only to be told that the rear box wouldn't fit the centre section so they had put a new centre section on. She paid up but I was livid. How does fitting a new standard centre section alter the fitting of the old standard centre section!!
A few choice words later and I had vowed never to use them again!
Actually I was more annyed that anyone would pull the old, "it a woman lets talk rubbish cos she won't get it" trick in this day and age
Still they've made up for it now!

I've had bad experiences with KF. I had them do an oil change on my Skud years ago, and it consequently curse word it all over the road on my way to college. When I took it back in the lad tried to tell me that the car had drawn it all through the breather and burnt it. I calmly explained that if it was breathing that heavily I wouldn't have made it out of the place at all. In the end (after two visits) it was found to be a faulty oil filter seal that they fitted A few months ago I tried to get them to fit some tyres I bought off the intenet (new), and they told me that they only fit their own. Not helpful at all. Suppose it depends which branch you use. That said I have insurance with them!

That's funny, I took my G/Fs Seicento to Kwik-Fit last Saturday to have 2 front tires fitted (Yokos ), bought elsewhere, and they charged me £8.99 per wheel. Didn`t hang around the dirty waiting area tho', went to the nice pub opposite ;D.
