I've bought a part from eBay.de, the seller is ok posting here but does not take PayPal.
They have sent me their bank details; bank name, account name, account number and sort code, but my bank wants IBAN and BIC codes to send the money.
My German isn't great (read awful!) so I'm not sure what to send them to ask for these details, i know the online translators are available but they're not up to much from experience.
Does anyone know of a way for me to make the transfer with the details i've been given or could you let me know how i should word a request for the details i need?
Any help very much appreciated!
Thanks in advance...

If I remember rightly, IBAN is the account number, sort code and an internationally recognised code/name (not necessarily in that order!) for the bank you are sending to, so I see no reason why the below IBAN generator/calculator wouldn't work and the SWIFT/BIC code is something similar. www.ibancalculator.com/SWIFT/BIC and IBAN are internationally recognised terms so even a Google Translate message to the seller should be fine though.

Write (or copy pasta): "Guten Tag! Meine Bank benötigt für eine Überweisung in's europäische Ausland die BIC/SWIFT und IBAN Nummern zu Ihrem Konto bzw. Ihrer Bank. Ausserdem wird eine Postanschrift verlangt. Die normalen Bankdaten will oder kann meine Bank nicht verwenden. Vielen Dank und untschuldigen sie bitte die Unannehmlichkeiten. Mit freundlichem Gruß, [insert your name]". Or try in english, almost all of us Krauts understand at least some basic english. And if they'r not totaly dumb, they'll understand the IBAN BIC/SWIFT acronym part and draw the right conclusion If you need further translation help, drop me a line Or mail me at strassenbelag {youknowwhat} gmx {dot} net Cheers, Jan

Thats great Jan, thanks. Could you add a request for their address to that aswell? Much appreciated! Adresse, bitte? IBAN, bitte? German is easy ;D Seriously though, all your bank should need is the IBAN. Short for International Banking, and has everything needed to get it to the right account. Clerks who know how it works right can do it easy, the ones who are inexperienced want every little snippet of info possible...
