Three door in red.
Nice origonal XS.
5 Speed box (close ratio, very quick).
Origonal Solex 32 Twin choke single carb.
Uprated sports filter (have origonal airbox too.)
1.6 gti 14" alloys.
4x Nearly new Falken ZE912 tyres.
Also have origonal XS steels with legal tyres.
Goodmans flip front c.d. player.
K&N Oil Breather filter.
Crazy Mushroom Air filter.
Rear Pop Out windows.
Service history going back to and including the origonal bill of sale and typed letter from the vending dealership.
I purchased this car recently from someone who had it laid up for 6 months.
Ive done some work on it to get it back into a usable condition,
but I'm moving on to a diesel now for the added MPGs.
Work carried out recently (with reciepts).
New altenator belt.
New Bosch Starter motor.
New Exhaust Back Box.
New Dipstick.
New Oil and Filter.
New coolant (and flush).
New Thermostat.
Reciepts totalling £300 (parts and professional labour) for this work carried out.
Also, the service history shows:
Head skim, new head gasket, and new head bolts @ 55,000 miles.
(£377.50).
The car drives well, is nice and poised on the road, needs no bushes (recent wishbones) there are no clonks, knocks or bangs from the suspension.
Brakes are fine, handbrake holds the car well.
Clutch is fine, no slips and the bite is crisp.
Engine is very strong, pulls hard and is notoriously quick.
A popular car for rally, track, hillclimb, sprint, autotest applications.
Interior is all there and in good origonal order other than a couple of small holes in drivers seat bolter.
Please note that this car is not mint, its nearly 15 years old and has the light scratches, marks and chips you would expect for a car of this age. However, there is NO rust that I can find. The shell is solid.
Things of note:
There is a small chip on the windscreen (passed last mot, not gotten any worse.)
Drivers side wing is dented (paint not broken, you might not notice unless you were looking.)
Heater works in the de-mist and floor positions. Does not blow through the front vents though (loose ducting?)
Sunroof has been sealed shut in the past.
Boot carpet is actual carpet offcut (mmmm, beige!)
Laquer has begun to lift on left and right hand sides of the bonnet.
There are a few cobwebs/very small bits of moss around the car from the lay up.
Tappets are audible. Never bothered me.
Needs the carb set up correctly. Symptoms:
Hard to start when warm. (needs throttle wide open. Always starts though.)
Idles a touch uneven.
Can be a bit spluttery at low revs when warm (underfueling? or maybe overfueling?) I just balance it with the choke atm.
Carbs are like whichcraft to me, so I havnt dare fiddle with it.
Needs someone with the knowhow to clean and set it I think.
Its in use as my daily driver so mileage will increase slightly.
Ive found it a solid, cheap (to insure, tax, and run) and reliable little box of fun, but its time to let someone else enjoy the summer in it.
Hagglers will be tolerated. Messers will be destroyed.
Also up on ebay, will end auction for an RR member at the price stated in this ad.
Cheers all.
