need some help if there is anybody on here in the tyre trade I'm trying to find somewhere that has a new Nexen 165/80 r14 tyre in stock. My MGB has a brand new one fitted last year about 300m iles ago, the other 3 tyres are shot, so not sure what was going through the PO's head at the time have tried all my local tyre places and the online suppliers like blackcircles, camskill, etyres etc but its either "thats not a brand we deal with" or "no stock at the moment" just need one to get a matching pair across an axle. cheers Matt

Nexen wouldn't be my first choice of tyre brand.... Falken however, which Camskill look to have stock of, would be a brand I'd happily fit

Mytyres are showing Falken in stock @ £42.70 each including delivery - total of £128.10 delivered for three of them.
As Welshpug says, Camskill have the same tyre in stock @ £36.10 (plus delivery) - total of £117.27 delivered for three of them.

sorry...should have explained a bit clearer - the other 3 tyres are all matching "India" tyres circa early 90's. lots of tread but side wall cracking and no grip.
if I can't get another nexen, I will probably go for 3 Barum Brilliantis in 165/80/14. supply and fit for £127 with "tyre-shopper" (aka national tyres).
obviously a budget tyre but the reviews are reasonable for this price range and ideal for small light cars. for the money, appears better than more expensive 165/80 tyres.

How about getting a set of four matching new tyres, and use the nexen as a spare?
That's where my money would go, when you can get new uniroyals for £33 a corner. For some reason having one odd tyre would bug the hell out of me!

Why are you insisting on using such naff tyres? They are the only thing keeping you on the road and not something to be scrimped on. For the cost of 1 tyre you'd be better off buying 4 good ones.

Personally, I replace all four and chuck the Nexen on the spare wheel.

all valid points made and i agree but..... - i have a tight budget and other stuff neeeds doing to the car too - not all budget tyres are curse word, infact some are better than big brands. you just need to choose carefully - the nexen is brand new and is nice balanced on a decent wire wheel. i'd prefer to use it. its a perfectly decent tyre for this type of car and my gentle driving style - the spare wheel is an older, slightly ropey wire wheel with a new kumho 165/80- tyre. the production date suggests its about 2.5years old. the wheel doesn't hold air well. i'd perfeer not to be swapping tyres around just in case it buggers the bead up and won't seal properly - the MG ghas wire wheels. not everywhere can balance centrelock wires properly, so ordering a £33 tyre online will cost me more as i then have to find a place to fit (£££) then take the wheel to my local healey specialist for bubble balancing (few more £££) never a simple solution

They were from Camskill. They've got a few other choices around that price, too. Great service!

Have you considered 175/70/14s? they are more easily available, and dimensionally quite close.
