The vinyl roof will hide most of that...... its got a new roof rebuilt by steve taylor he rebuilt it rather than reshelling it because its also one of the oldest mk3's . steve knows a thing or two about mk3's he's actually had and built more of them than I have ;D AS mark says I partly watched it being built, it was a fooking labour of love but most of STs cars are, the pics of in the yard with the squashed roof are in his yard where it sat with about 15 other Mk3s till he had the panels to get round to it. IIRC the bloke who sold it sent the V5 off as scrapped when he sold it to a banger racer who ST bought it off I "think" the roof was damaged when the yard burnt down and it was in a shed a few doors away and the roof came down on it, hense the roof, i know he has a few cars in the shed the roof came down in including an Rs turbo that took the brunt of the roof beams

I think most of the escort boys would have done the same if it was mk1/2, and some of the wrecks that appear on ebay sometimes look a hell of a lot worse that that mk3, and they still go for silly money! Bit of time and effort and most things can be done if you have the know how and the gear to do it!! Cracking restoration! I would love a mk3! Must say, they are my favorite Cortina!

I was also in the fortunate position of seeing Mr ST putting this together. Believe me, he does know his stuff, especially around mk3 tina's. This car has been well put together and is nearly as good as new. Wish I could afford for him to do another for me!

The truth could do with being posted on any forums this topic has come up on, before some muppet reports it to the DVLA.

I love a happy ending.
Wish I could see the link to the Cortina forum, I'm hoping it's a build thread.
If anyone knows daddy Khan can you tell him to get a readers rides thread up, ta! ;D

I don't see an issue with it being repaired, though one thing still comes to mind, if it has been restored and obviously as pictured is on the road again, why does the DVLA still say its scrapped?

This thread should never have been started without concrete evidence that the car was a ringer, which obviously it isn't.
In my view it was started because the op thought something along the lines of 'Ha Ha look who's paid a fortune for a Cortina and been stitched up'
Not very clever.

If anyone knows daddy Khan can you tell him to get a readers rides thread up, ta! ;D Rob No unfortunatly ST doesn't do "tinternet" that well ;D the only time you'll see a built thread is when one of us other cortina nuts goes down there takes the pics then puts em up shame really cos there have been frikken loads of stunning 24V cortinas (and all types of ford actually) come out of his yard. There are some threads but they will be by me or littlenewt on BSC or maybe the odd owner when they pop in to check on progress, He must of converted well over 50 fords to 24V by now inc Mk1 transits, Mk2/3/4/5 cortina Mk1/2/3 capris, consol capris, 4X4 cortina Mk3 and a rather taisty 3.7 supercharged 24V Mk3 ect ect not to mention the odd TD conversion, sierras he's done shed loads of 24V conversions as well, I have the pleasure of driving a few He's recued a lot worse actually, there's a stunning 24V cortina crayford in Aus he bought back from the brink and a Mk1 lotus crayford he saved a few years ago. I've joined that site to try and set it straight but waiting for confirmation to come through Like the DVLA are know for not cocking everything up they run/touch ect EDIT somone has already set the record straight on their, cheers DarrenXR3i you masked avenger you ;D

Like the DVLA are know for not cocking everything up they run/touch The first thing that I thought when I read the "It must be scrapped 'cos the DVLA says so" was that they're hardly infallible...
